going to test and tune

going to local track for test and tune.. was wondering if anyone has done the air box mod when you cut the bottom out... any notice about gain... kind of want stock numbers but could try this for the hell of it...

any advice on staging or shift points?

stage, hold brake with left foot, sst hold gas to about 1200 rpm (play with that number a little bit) shift around 65ish. Have fun with it. If your having fun, then you'll relax and run better. Bottome line, its your car, we cant tell you better than you can. Make sure you sit up straight and move the seat foward a bit so both feet go right to the floorboard.



helmet laws vary from track to track, call ahead. to be sure you have what you need. wear closed toe shoes and long pants. you will want to have at least short sleeves if not long, bring long incase they ask for it. but if you call ahead or check into it, you'll know exactly what to expect
 
i know all this stuff... i have ran at test and tunes before... and have street raced since i was 16 years old....

i'm just wondering if there is any tricks for this car... and about the giving you a hard time... thats not what i was trying to do.. was just stressing my opinion.

you are tuned with an SCT.... will the adjustables let you mess with shift pressure any? I'd bump it up in SST for the track. Faster cleaner shifts are ALWAYS BETTER
 
Rev up to 6500RPM's in neutral then put it in drive or reverse(depends on which way you are facing down the track) and make sure its floored the entire time. :D

That's if you have SCT, if no tune, just bounce off the rev limiter.
 
these have a pretty flat power curve once you get above 3500 or so. shift as late as possible without bouncing off the rev limiter since that costs a lot of time.

i know there is another guy on here that goes to a 1/8 mile track and he got damn good 60' times. those are crucial. His name is 02LSE.... he's got the megadeath avatar. he did the rearend swap so he's got some gearing but he's a good driver.

what rpm where you launching at? i noticed you had a little wheel spin... what mods did you have to ge that 14.5 or is that all stock?

Do a good cool down but not too long. About an hour or so unless you live in a really hot climate. Traction Control off while in SST mode. Powerbrake the car as high as it will let you go before the rear tires break loose, then back off about 100 rpm. Let off the brake and gun the gas. Shift as late as possible without bumping into rev limiter. When going through traps try extra hard to hold out on that last shift until after if ya can. That will net you the best ET in your Gen2 LS.
 
thanks for the info man...I noticed on another thread you where saying that third gear should end at like 90 or 95... mine ends at like 85 to 90 cant remember... wish i would have gotten a tune so i can rev past 6500 in third
 
I launch from a low rpm around 1000-1200. If you go to high I find the car comes out slow almost bogged. Mines a Gen1 thou.

no tune yet? I want to run your track then! I'll run ya! I dont have an N/A 2nd gen, but i think you might have th only 1st gen that will run with mine N/A I have a small drive train fix I need to make first but this could be one hell of a good run!

The video was before I had the tune, I've had the Xacl2 for a while now.

Best with tune is in my signature. 14.368.

idk..... lol havent run her NA since she was about stock.... since then its been failed attempts at spraying or on the bottle. I will leave the bottle with Rob if we run. The best I've got with NA was like a 15.2 but that was stock with a tune and retarded timing. Nothing else was done to her except my 20's I think it would be a damn good pull!
 
get Rob in here ask what he thinks. I'm leaning towards you winning. We both have stuff that noone else has. PM me and we can chat about it.
 
Oct 10th i plan to run around what 02lse runs, or faster since i wont have an interior :D
