Response ad to Charles Gibson attacking Palin on her belief in God

Sarah's speech at her church in Wasilla - if you haven't seen this - at the very least watch the first one - faith molds your ideals, and how you feel about certain subjects - so I believe it is a good little glimpse in how Sarah Palin views God.

Oh, and if there was any question about how these men viewed the separation of church and state

Kennedy -
" I believe in an America where the separation of church and state is absolute--where no Catholic prelate would tell the President (should he be Catholic) how to act, and no Protestant minister would tell his parishioners for whom to vote--where no church or church school is granted any public funds or political preference--and where no man is denied public office merely because his religion differs from the President who might appoint him or the people who might elect him."

FDR -
"The lessons of religious toleration--a toleration which recognizes complete liberty of human thought, liberty of conscience--is one which, by precept and example, must be inculcated in the hearts and minds of all Americans if the institutions of our democracy are to be maintained and perpetuated. We must recognize the fundamental rights of man. There can be no true national life in our democracy unless we give unqualified recognition to freedom of religious worship and freedom of education."

And Truman (short and sweet - as always)
"Religious and racial persecution is moronic at all times, perhaps the most idiotic of human stupidities. "

Did she imply that God's will is for Alaska to have that gas pipeline?

"People are going to be interested in Jesus Christ through you because of the way you look." Odd, that.

No, she didn't. She said that "we" need to pray for God's will to be done as "we" build it.

@ 2:05 "God's will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that built", just saying.

Which is what according to Sarah Palin?
I don't speak for her, and I doubt you'll find an example of her speaking for God. You tell me, I'm going to bed. Just make sure you use clear cites instead of going with your feewings.

Would this be it? "God's will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that built"

I wondered about this statement:

First, a list of infrastructure type items, guns for police, money for public schools, things that the governor handles, and then Governor Palin stated that having those things "doesn't do any good if the people of Alaska's hearts isn't right with God."

She's right, but to those that don't understand God, I can see how this would seem foolish.

1 Corinthians 1:18: For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

I certainly understand my God, what I don't understand is her God.

And, in no way am I a Biblical scholar - I have a few favorite quotes, but to argue them is to argue faith -

It is done unto you as you believe.
- Matthew 9:29

Foss, I am not being flippant - I really want to know - 'yours'? Do you believe in a fideism view of faith and God, or are you on the other extreme - a 'logical positivism' view of religious belief? There are others - but that is sort of the scale of faith... right and left as it were.

And let's take a closer look at the hard hitting Charlie Gibson/Obama interview.
Let's take a look at a few of those hard hitting questions...

GIBSON: Do you worry that [the 2008 race] could turn on race, age and class?...

GIBSON: Is the hardest part of all this behind you or ahead of you?...

GIBSON: The picture of you in the paper, this morning, with your wife, watching the Clinton speech. What did you think of the Clinton speech?...

GIBSON: And finally your daughters. What did they say to you? Did they take it as a matter of course that Daddy could be nominated to be president? They never knew what older people know in terms of discrimination, although they may still feel some. What did they say about that?...

GIBSON: I watched closely your countenance last night, your mien, as you stood in that hall. You didn't smile much. Has the joyfulness of this hit home yet? Do you take joy from it?...

Mr Calabrio - Perfect avatar:)

But, what?????

Foss, I was just interested in your viewpoint on faith - not to categorize you, but just as a point of how you view the world - faith doesn't just have to be associated with God, there is faith in self, in your fellow man, in destiny.

This hit me as an interesting comment - I save these things...

"Faith is not static but causes one to learn more of God and grow, faith causes change as it seeks a greater understanding of God. Faith is not fideism, or simple obedience to a set of rules or statements." - Daniel Migliore

I think the second sentence is an interesting statement.

I think Gods will has to be done in unifying people and companys to get that gas line built

That in no way means...

that she [Palin] thinks its gods will that a gas line is built
She is imploring people to seek God's will when it comes to unifying people.

She is in no way dicating what God's will is...

:bsflag:
She wanted her gas line built, she wanted the jobs, she was asking people to pray for it shag....I think she is a little confused between gods will and her will.

And your proof for this is...

Oh, you are just assuming it, that's right.

Her comment's don't in any way suggest what you are saying, but you keep asserting it. I didn't know you could read her mind.

Ford Nut, you don't know much about Christians, that's clear. Yet you appear to scoff at them quite often. I believe that puts you in the category of "peanut gallery."

I don't have to read her mind....just listen with my ears, its clear to me what she is saying.

How do you get off telling me what I know ?
Do you think all christians are the same....how do you know ?
Let me tell you a little something I have learned through my own life experiences.

Trust NO ONE who uses any religion to promote what THEY want.
