I've had my '05 LS for a few months now and I've noticed that going over a fairly serious bump causes a shake and rubber squeak (only way I can describe it) in the driver's B Piller door area. Haven't had the dealer check it out yet. Anyone know if this is a common occurance in the LS?

Thanks,
Steve

That sounds like the TSB 05-16-7 squeak or creaking noise on the door latch, easy fix.

Just lube the latch with either a silicon grease or I use spray Lithium grease. You don’t have to remove anything, just spry the latch and work the latch wipe off excess and don’t forget to wipe the striker. I have to do it about every year, takes five minutes.

mine also does this. on drivers side.is everyones on driver side? Honestly it sounds higher than the latch though

Mine does that too! I greased it some time ago but it didn't do much. Or maybe I only thought about greasing it.

Thanks gcwimmer! I sprayed each latch and striker with white lithium grease (actually wiped the grease on the striker) last night and the problem seems solved. No squeaks going to and from work today and I hit some decent (not major) bumps. So far so good. This car has 25k mikes and has had all the 5k services. You'd think the Lincoln service guys would lube these parts. But I guess you'd be wrong! Thanks again!
Regards,
Steve
BTW, I like your "Nevada Air Brakes" option!

You welcome stevec, it drove me crazy also because the sound doesn't seem to come from that area.

White Lithium spray grease with one of thoughts red extension tubes can be found at most auto supply, one can should last for decades and use on hinges, trunk latch and hood latch.

...and the house, and the office, and the kid's bike, and the throttle cable on your lawn mower, etc. You can use that stuff on anything that isn't edible (that's where WD40 comes in handy) yet the grease will still last you a decade. It's great stuff!

My passanger side door rattled pretty bad, not sure it was the B-pillar but I took it in, the door panal was popped off and a piece of thick foam was inserted. It made the rattle a whole lot better but sometimes I can still hear it, barely though. Try that.
