Yesterday I drove over to Angeles national forest and drove on the Angeles Crest Highway.

This car handles! I mean I knew that before too, but it does a really fine job, the steering feel is probably the best and it's extremely direct, especially after the lowering and with these wide tires the car shines.

It could use a little more power, but still it drives better than a lot of cars out there especially being with over 160000 miles.

Love it!

Next time will shoot a video.

nice to hear your car going strong at that mileage. she can probably go another 160k if you maintain her

Yep, good handler.

About a month ago I found myself at a light with a Civic next to me and a Sentra behind me. I started to take off normal but noticed the Sentra crampin me from behind and at the same time the Civic started buzzin. I put it to the floor, guess I should mention the road has some tight twistys immediately after the light. I held it to the floor not letting up, left them both back probably scared the crapout of them when I started the 4 wheel drift in the second bend.

All on 20s.

Hey Arthur, you going to have invite us along once and awhile. That sounds like a really nice drive, I haven't been up Hwy 2 in 15 + years.

This story makes me feel all warm n' fuzzy :Beer :D

+1

LOl.

Seriously it really does, sometimes i push myself a little bit too much and scared car might tip, but taking those exits with ease. Beautiful.

Nice going 02LSE96LSC91SE84TC !

( BTW, that is one long a$$ username ) LOL :D

Yea I think our next meet we should do over there and actually have a long and nice drive.

When Lincoln was ready to release the new improved 03 LS they invited some LLSOC members to test drive the new ones on Angeles Crest Highway. How cool was that. My fav was the 6 Sport.... which of course then only became available in Canada after that! The 6 had the best balance in the curves.
Later the SoCal contingency did a drive from La Canada/Flintridge on Angeles Crest to Wrightwood. Great ride!

Autocrossing with the Lincoln Engineers was fun also! :)

The LS does have great handling! I drove my friend to the BMW dealership in Houston and followed him back. He got a 135i which is a pretty small car but has great handling. We took this twistys road and he was going pretty fast but I was able to keep up in the handling department for the most part. I have the Eibach springs and since I've had them installed I've noticed the difference!!!

Hey, If I had used a user name going the current cars i own it would be

05LS02MERC80280ZX77F25070MAV

and that is using partial spelling for the names, 02 Mercury Mountaineer and 70 Ford Maverick.

If I did the current cars/vehicles I own it would be 5 times as long. Its just the 4 Lincolns I have not including a parts car 90SE.

WOW!!!!! Well if I took out the 80 280zx it would be an all Ford show.

jason...... i want to find some nice curves and see what a difference your gears make. I think pulling out of the turns with the extra torque must be nice as all h***

I had my GF at the time following me in her G5 (pontiacs cobalt for those who dont know) driving the fun road to work. There is an S curve that I love to slow down before so the guy in front of me gets ahead. Then let the LS's nuts sag and ripo the S to shreds. well, she kept up through this 25mph s curve till about 60. By the time I was out of it (feathering the gas) I was just under 80. These cars are the balls to drive! and the big fat 275/30's make the handling soooooooo much nicer! I see some progressive rate shocks in my future

Let's invite some to a challege on Sept 12-13th. look for the So Cal Meet thread.

i dont care where it was tested.... doesnt mean it held up well! Id be curious to see how they stack up

That's the CTS-V, different story. Regular gen1 CTS is crappy, the interior is complete junk.

Yep she can get out real nice. I didn't think much of how the 4:10 and TL would change handling, and was always satisfied with the LSEs handling. But it did change the feel of the car alot. You can smash it in a corner and it plants itself and gets out. In spring with the stockers still on I did throw it around some to she how she responds, really fun. You have to really throw it to kick out and hang on cause shes going to grab and you better be ready, very controllable though...as long as you don't fly out of the seat into the passenger side your in control.

The only thing that is a little bit of a drag is the transmissions gear finding issues is more noticeable now with the 4:10s, so in autocross type track I could see the trans being annoying, SST would likely need to be used to really get it done.
