Would anyone know of a way to change the color of a center console and still keep the factory texture? I found one for sale but its a different color and I want it to match the rest of the interior texture and color, would dye work? I am not sure how paint would stick and be durable without sanding the console. Anyone have any ideas, I just want a normal size cup holder that looks like it came that way.

I put together an 96 impala ss clone and there is a product I've used to refinish interior pieces called "SEM" (USE IN A WELL VENTILATED AREA)

Here is a quick write-up from a Ford forum.

Good Luck

I have mine painted. Black. It keeps the texture, if you're painting the console lid, it can't have ANY scratches or cracks, otherwise the paint will crack along the existing lines. No sanding required, ohh, it's been painted for a couple of years now, I think.
