Rust or Staining on Chrome Rims

I have some type of rust staining on my chrome rims. This staining was there when I purchased the vehicle. the rim still feels smooth to the touch. Any advice on getting these stains out. The stains look as if they were splashed on. No chrome cleaner I have used yet has been successful.

Did you try wadding polish?

How about 3M rubbing compound, that may work but I'm not sure.

Mothers Chrome Polish works pretty well on that kinda stuff.

If a cleaner doesn't work, maybe the rust problem has moved itself into the finish of the chrome. Try S100/P21S Polishing Soap or search for the proper Duragloss product.

The same thing happened to my wheels a while back, I went out and bought me some turtle wax rubbing compound the red kind. I scrubbed them with that stuff and the wheels look just like new.

The 3M stuff I mention worked for my stockers. I don't know how bad yours is but I would really give that a shot.

Same thing happened to mine, I used some chrome polish got a small detailing brush and after a few hours on all of the rims they were back to looking new.

I tried taking a pic of the rust, but the chrome wheels wouldn' reveal the true damage on camera. Thanks for all the replies, i'll try them in order they were recieved and I'll let you guys know which method works.

Universally speaking for all of these replies, if you don't feel like rubbing for hours try a powerball or poweball mini. I haven't tried one, but a lot of people like them.

Is the powerball abrasive enough? I'm worried I won't get enough agitation. I did consider purchasing the powerball on one of my recent trips to the auto parts store.

The powerball probably wont do jack. I have one, about the only thing its good for is the final polish.

I have one. Still brand new. I've had it for months. I keep it out on the workbench to remind me not to buy gimmicky stuff. I honestly can't think of a good use for it. I bought the larger one. The smaller one might be more useful, but I'm not going to waste any more money on them.

I think it's Eagle One Nano Polish with Anti-Corrosion that had worked for me in the past. Can't remember if Eagle is the brand name or not.

I have a similiar problem. I have the chrome spokes that came with the ultimate. There is a small rust bubble at the inner edge of the spoke. The outer surface is mirror shiny, but on the edges of the spokes, in a few spots on all the wheels, there is some corrosion. The rust bubble is about 1/4 inch on the inner edge of the spoke. I have the red turtle wax paste at home, I think I will give that a shot. Should I peel away the bubble? How can I prevent further rust? Any help on this is appreciated.

I'll send you my small one and you can keep that on your bench next to the big one. Worst $15 I ever spent is too harsh....but a terry cloth works better for cleaning wheels IMHO.
