On a 97 lsc if any buddy has the "performance" calibrations i'd like to get that info. All that was in the tune was prem. fuel.

More importantly If i mess with the air/fuel, spark, ect to much is it possible to damage the engine?

Last but not least can you hook it to the obd2 port and adjust it while you drive.

I'm a nood at tuners and dont feel like braking anything? Thanks guys.

For the most part if you stick with the base stuff and dont do custom tuning, which requires the software, you wont mess anything up. If you have the XcalII, then it walks you through how to do it. You plug it into your OBDII port and then turn the key on (not engine on JUST the key on) Then the screen will prompt you on what to do. Its easy and after you load it you can drive the car and see what changes. If you dont have big mods i wouldnt mess with the timing. Shift firmness is one to mess with, as well as kick the cooling fans on a little earlier.

Hope that helps

I'm assuming your talking about the SCT Xcalibrator 2?

.

The XC2 has the ability to have what is called "on device adjustments" and you can adjust spark, AF, ect.. and YES these adjustments give you the ability to turn your 32valve 4.6 into a heap of melted aluminum.

I would NOT make any AF adjustments that were not verified by using a Wide Band 02.
Messing with AF is not a "trial and error" type of adjustment.

You cannot "tune on the fly" with the Xcal2, in fact there isn't any "tune on the fly solution" for the end user at this point in time
{doubtful there ever will be)

I have a 98 LSC that I tuned using the SCT ProRacer Package combined with an Xcal 2 which is very much like the software that the dealers use, with the exception it is for a single vehicle rather than a whole vehicle LINE.

Feel free to shoot me a PM with any questions you might have.
I really dont want to post publicly the intimate details of the tune as I have spent literally hundreds of hours working on it..

Last but not least can you hook it to the obd2 port and adjust it while you drive..

Once configured to your cars PCM the Xcal 2 will allow you to "datalog" the parameters inside your PCM that will go along way it helping you determine if your changes are helpful or not.

There is ALOT to be learned from an individual cars datalog, as no two cars are exactly alike..one car may LOVE 21 degree's of timing where another car will knock and ping with 20 degree's of timing... it all dependent on the vehicle, fuel quality and the enviromental conditions the car is operated in.

...hope this helps..and again.. feel free to shoot me a PM.

Good info XLRVIII.

I wouldn't mess with anything to much if you don't know what your doing. Especially timing, like XLRVIII said you can destroy a good running motor pretty quickly. A good mail order tune will net you some hp and a much improved shift schedule and is worth the $$ and the more you talk to the tuner beforehand the happier you will be. i.e If you want the shifts points raised but not any firmer because you have a shift kit make sure they know that.
