My New Mark

I'd be at car craft if I wasn't working...

I would also have driven it down to Porky's last night except I was so tired I fell asleep at 8, probably because I was down in the cities till 3 on friday night.

I wanted to go......just no time.
Getting ready for Vac.
Plus working crazy hours over 58 last week.

We all are going to have to have a mark meet one of these days.

The good news is that if anyone breaks down who owns a gen 1 at your house we will have the spare parts to fix it!

Hell Ya!

I want to meet up with people more, I like getting together with like minded and car owning people!

I started working on the car tonight, hit up some rust issues on the bottom of the doors.

It would be fun to get together.
How bad is the rust ?
Not too bad I hope.
Snap a pic.

that is a 'Crown Jewel' in any collection-nice find, hope that it is not a DD so that you can make it perfect, although it doesn't look too far off-congrats!

The bottom of the doors was the only rust on the car I would call bad, but I started taking care of that today. Scraped and wire wheeled it clean and slapped on some POR15, no more worries of rust. After the POR dries I will prime and paint it and buh bye rusty doors.

As I've been going over my car I'm thinking it has a bit of a sunroof leak or clogged drain or something because the carpet behind the passenger seat shows some water damage, or at least thats how it appears.

nice car! look forward to seeing it at a meet. hopefully i'll have a mark by then, but we'll see

Ya, what did it run?

My Crown Vic is the real turd, think 16 second turd.

made three hot passes, in order

10.06 @ 71.5
10.04 @ 71.8
9.97 @ 72.5

just about what I expected, should be a 15.1-15.0 car with some good air "non july in texas" it should run a 14.90 in the 1/4 or around 9.80 in the 1/8th

Aso check the HVAC fresh-air duct in your cowl- the body caulk that seals it to the cowl can crack over time due to body flex- this will let water in the car. The first time it happened, my entire passenger-side floorboard/carpet got soaked. Had this problem not once, but twice on my 94. (didn't totally fix it the first time lol) Seal it really well with some RTV and you should be good to go.

You can verify the drains by pouring some water down them (there are holes for the tubes at each corner of the sunroof, they're fairly obvious). If they're working, you'll know, sounds like the car is takin a piss lol.

BEAUTIFUL CE, by the way- I saw a Cordovan CE this past weekend on the road- I believe I'll be back in a Mark in the next year or two. The bug is hitting me hard again LOL

I'll be pulling out the seats, dor panels, center console, rear panels, and maybe a few other parts in the next few days when it kools down a bit. That will give me a chance to really clean the interior and fix the sunroof drains right.

I think the factory drains are not long enough. If you can, replace them with longer ones that go all the way to the corners of the car.

That's why alot of marks rust bad in front of the rear wheel. That parts mark I have in the back yard has an ASC moon roof and its hoses go all the way to the bumpers. Also I know its a gen one prob but the rear tail light should be sealed around the holes in the trunk because it lets water in and sits in the bottom edge of the trunk. I have seen alot of get ones that rust there.

Finally after you have it all together let me drive it to make sure its safe!:gr_devil:

So I restored the headlights last night. Started with 400 grit, then went 600, 1500, heavy cutting compound, plastx to finish them up. the buffing was done with my little buff ball on a cordless drill.

I will have to replace the drivers side headlight at some point because it has some spidercracking due to rock chips in the lens, and there is slight damage to the chrome inside.

Looks good. I need to do mine since it looks like that now. so you start with a 400, 600 and then 1500 while addding water on the headlamp. After that ou use a rubbing compound(any rubing compound??? and did you do it by hand?) you get all the scrachets removed by using the rubbing compound, and top it of with plasticx. I know I just repeated what you said but I just wanna be sure...lol
