Aight, when i was eyeballing 98 mark 8 trans they are either listed with with an ID of PKE-AD or With out the PKE-AD? Can anyone tell me what this means? Arn't all 98 Mark 8's trans have the updates or is it only with PKE-AD?

my trans pan had that sticker on it, it has a TSB number printed on it, the TSB says if it fails to send it back to Ford instead of tearing it down at the shop........so im guessing Ford wanted to see if anything new failed or something............

i have no idea how true this is but....

i have read that the ones with the pke-ad id are the ones that got the upgrades, not sure how to confirm this though

PKE-AD is just another valve body calibration, nothing else. Get either one, since you're gonna j-mod the plate anyway, correct ?

Just get a 98 and you will be fine. (Hollander is a parts reference book, etc.)

Hollander is a common computer system that junkyards use, it has an interchange function that lies all the time. It will ask dumb things like, the pke code crap and then tell you a part won't fit because of it.

i guess the 98s really must be stronger... i hear about failing trans on these cars all the time and im rocking 160 thousand miles on mine without a problem.
So what was the deal ive heard mid 97 they changed over but theres no real way to tell with the 97s?
