Here are some pics of the new exhaust I had put on my 98 LSC. This is LMS's exhaust installed by them. It looks and sounds great!! I had a similar version of LMS's exhaust on my old 1993.

I had this put on about 1-month ago (sorry I'm late with the pics).

Im sorry, but if I pay for an exhaust system it had BETTER be mandrel bent.

crush bends? i'll pass

Wow, thanks for the nice reply?! It's hard enough to gets mods for this car and I get this response? As some have stated Mandrel isn't necessary on a 300HP car. I got this exhaust based on my experience. And my experience is that I had a similar (non-mandrel) exhaust system on my other 1993 Mark VIII 8+years ago and it went from 14.6 to 14.3, so it gained 3-tenths in the quarter (with no other changes). I'm sure with Mandrel bends that car would have run 13.5's, right?!

Now that I've posted my experience and 1/4 mile gains with this exhaust, what is your experience with Mandrel vs. non-mandrel exhausts on Mark VIII's........we'd all be interested?

Ken

exactly, i wouldn't pay $800 for something i can get made at ANY exhaust shop for $150 max.

but geno said it's fine, so it must be true.

LMAO get me a QUOTE for this job with lifetime warrantied stainless steel mufflers, 10 year warrantied galvinized heavy gauge xx pipes hardened steel hangers with poly bushings and 4-5 hours labor for $150.00 your a dreamer bud, sorry. It IS true.

Again why pay anywhere from $150.00 to $350.00 more depending on who does it for mandrel when you will not see 1hp from it? Just money down the tube imho.

From my point of view its the difference between using Bondo and lead to fix the body. Its about quality work. Thats all I am saying.

If I were to pay anyone to do my exhaust I want it to look really nice, that means mandrel bent for me. Thats all I meant.

how much is that including install?

It's $799.99 for the LMS XpansionX II or I lifetime warrantied stainless steel mufflers, LMS galvinized 10 year warrantied xx pipes, hardened steel hangers with poly bushing, 3.5 to 4.5 hours labor and this all includes a 10 year warranty on the pipes, hangers, welds and workmanship.

Thats totally cool. Mandrel vs standard bends has nothing to do with quality at all, its for flow at HIGH levels. I would put the extra cash into go fast goodies unless I had mirrors under the car showing it or monster power, that's all I meant.

Stupid question though. Does this kit include everything from cats back or would someone buying still need pipe fitted between the exhaust components?

When it was installed by LMS, the price included everything.........no extra 'hidden charges'.

Ken

For $800 you'd hope they would at least remove the biggest restriction in the system. The pipes right after the cats are double walled and limit the size of the exhaust to 1-3/4 or so where it matters the most, right after HOT cats.

I bet it sounds good though ;)
