I have a very stupid ? Barney has been getting high engine temp since before I had it. Someone told me to replace the thermostat. I replaced it last night took it on a nice hour drive with a/c on headlights subwoofers on and it ran fine. Took him out today and its starting his bulls*** over again. What else could it be?

My friends 94 mark VIII ALWAYS reads hot on the gauge, but it's not! I have checked it at the engine & x-over tube several times & it's just fine. Just a thought. Make sure that it really is getting hot.

If you have burped the system thoroughly, how hot is it getting. Where is the needle. If you do a search you will find that there has been discussion on this subject in the past. The thing to keep in mind is that on the gage the area marked as NORMAL is where the needle should be. It may also rise when in traffic or heavy load, but it also should come down also. Each has it's own idiocincracy. I have two identical cars that act totally different on the gage, but are normal. Also by turning on the AC your radiator fan should also be on.
