So, I took out my 98 Lincoln Mark Viii LSC this weekend to a local meet here near chicago. On my way, i ran into a 98 Cobra Convertible that was cool. After we raced, we pulled in and were talking, apparently he has a JLT true cold air intake, and a catback of some kind.
My car is completely stock other than Mobile 1 Synth., straight piped the rear mufflers ONLY(still has stock piping), removed air silensor and drilled the airbox.

The Race,
We went from a variety of powerpoints, but the best i got on tape was this one from around 20-90ish. Very good race. i give the mark the win by 1/2 car.
When we went from a dig.(haha) my car lost by 1-1.5 cars by 90. i have that video too. so not bad for the mark. Really need those 4.10's haha.

Heres the Vid.

Let me know what you guys think.
Also i was going to do plugs today, is anyone having luck with the Denso Irridiums? i know you guys like your autolites. but anyone running irridiums?

Enjoy!

Cool race, didn't you run a Mazda Protage turbo the other day too.

I wasn't there I know that kid who drives this Mazda and he showed me a short video of that run on his cell phone. btw my brother has 3 mark VIIIs,your mark viii would be a good match against my brothers white 98 LSC.We go to Strats on North ave once a while ,so maybe we can met up and line them up one night.:D

It was a FOBRA!!!! (fake cobra)

Not possible. as i said we stopped and chatted for a while and i managed to snap one quick pic of the engine bay...

Plus those SN-95 GT's are dogg slow.. really dogg slow..

hey 95sc, if your brother is the guy he talks about with the Supercharged Black one, forget that!!!! haha. it would be fun to meet up though. i might go to the meet in the midwest section if you guys wanted to meet up next weekend, and cruise up to the strip i'd be down. what do you think? p.s. i work with conrad up at carmax.... but i am a technician but on the night shift like him... so we talk a lot..

The sn-95's are 15.0 slow. That cobra is sad... And you say your car is almost stock? Did you ask him what gear he started in that run?

the thing thats so fuuny about this is if you take that manifold off and put it on a mark it would go even faster.
Good kill, my sis in-law is a mustank lover and I showed this to her to bust her bubble.

Cobra intakes on marks arent all theyre cracked up to be. I honestly wont ever do the cobra intake swap.

That's cool, like I said before, he has 3 Mark VIIIs.I wasn't trying to line you up against his superchaged one.I was talking about his white 98 LSC,it has UD pulleys and a tune.My brother is on vacation now ,so we won't go anywhere next weekend.

haha... yes stock!! but anytime you and you bro want to get together on the weekends im down.. would be fun to roll with a few other mark viii's for once..

Pm me if you are going to be going out some weekend.

That is the best way to go if you want to add a supercharger on a 1st gen. The cobra SC setup is perfect for that manifold, unlike the stock manifold unfortunately. :(

I bought one, just waiting for the 4.10's and it'll be on .. Ill run it N/A for now but a supercharger WILL be in the future. The one i bought has the runners shortened so we will see how that goes...

You should really get a high stall converter to compliment your gears.

not to sound dumb.. but if i did a high stall, would it screw up my drivablility? i drive it everyday and so does the wife.. or does it just effect launching under throttle.. could i still take off at a normal speed and not have it rev like crazy???

thanks

Not at all, my 3200 stall converter is pretty stable when you are cruising. If I am on the highway doing about 70mph, my RPMs will be steady at 2500 or 2900 RPMs. Now I have stock gears, if I had 4:10's like you are going to be installing. Then the RPMs will be probably much higher, maybe in the 3800 or 4k range. Also, depending on what stall converter you go with.

Yes and no. You will be able to tell it's there. It takes a little more gas to get going from a stop especially on an incline. Once it gets up to speed and the converter is locked there is no difference. Overall it's just a little getting used to if you have not driven a car with a high stall before. It's not so bad that you couldn't just hand the keys to the wife and have her take it for a spin.

Definitely worth it though. I still have stock gearing(at least until I have time to have the 4.10 and trac lok installed) but it pulls a lot harder now.

You shouldn't be over 3k rpm at 70 with 4.10s. And once the converter locks up it doesn't matter what the stall speed is the rpms will be the same.

does anyone have a video of a highstall on a mark? i was thinking of a 3200. but anyvideo will do..
