what happened to the custom part line thread in the high performance section? someone named revolutionary concepts was workin on some performance stuff? was it yanked for some reason?

That sucks... finally when we get some good aftermarket support. Hopefully that doesn't discourage revolutionaryconcepts from continuing with his venture, and keeping us informed!

He didnt even get a chance to get any orders in. How is he considered any kind of dealer. Now he probably wont ever be able to become one here unless he strikes a deal.

DID HE TRY TO ACTUALLY SELL ANYTHING?

NO!

Actually he did. When he started taking orders via email that became advertising. Joey offered him to be a PAID vendor. It's his choice now. Quote from Joey:

I dont care if someone occasionally responds to a thread with "hey, I have a product for that problem" but when they start a thread and talk about their services, thats advertising.

Thats on him then but without starting a thread like that in the only LS online comunity how is the guy going to get a start and how are we going to get anything new?

Sucks for him he should have a bit more of a chance at this in some way.

Is his thread deleted or his whole account?

bummer. i kinda figured it was something along those lines, but i kinda gotta agree that since he doesn't actually have the parts or prices or anything yet its kinda hard to apply as a vendor.. as far as i knew he didn't start taking the orders via email yet but if he's going as gung ho into this as he seems odds are we'll see him pop up as a vendor.

That's fair then. If you're using someone else's site to sell your product, the site owner has the right to charge for it.

Hopefully he becomes a paid vendor!

But on the other hand, right now he's just R&D. Getting useful information from members who would obviously be a major part of his sales. He should have his chance to complete his research before becoming a paid vendor. I didn't see anything on there that said prices, availablity, or anything but speculation. Maybe Joey jumpedthe gun a little. Or maybe I don't know the whole story. Did that guy doing the Cobra R wheels for the mark VIII become a paid vendor before he started taking orders?

Thats what I was coming from.

Or maybe I don't know the whole story.

But thats why I am staying open minded to this.

I asked him about a few simple things price wise but others ask about heat shields and other stuff.

He can discuss R&D - He just cant advertise products for sale.

He was offered a vendor spot - he chose not to accept.

We have other vendors who pay for advertising and thats wht helps pay for the site, server expenses, etc. Its not fair to them for me to let him advertise without making an equal contribution.

While i understand your position, i think that deleting the thread was the wrong move. As far as i could tell, he was not actually advertising, he was doing R&D, trying to find out what items/parts the LS community was most interested in so that he could effectively build his product line. Besides that, you could have offered to work out a deal with him where, for example, he pays a discounted price to maintain just that thread, but with no other advertising. That would have allowed him to continue his research while still being "fair" to the other vendors (seeing as how he would not have his own forum, signature advertising or sidebar advertising).

Also, on a side not, your post comes off as if you are more worried about your own pocket then you are about your user base, which is somewhat disheartening. That one thread is not going to bring down your servers or cause them any serious additional load.

I mean no offense by that, just my $.02.

This particular situation has been discussed several times before in the past. However, he did offer parts and services in one thread that you probably didn't see before it was taken down. In any case, discussing R&D parts and the possibility of them being available is one thing but to start taking orders and offering them for sale is another.

As Joey mentioned, he was offered to become a vendor member and he didn't want to do that. So, he can discuss anything else about his R&D but not to sell those items. It's pretty cut and dry if you ask me. It definitely is not fair for the other vendors to pay for advertising and have the ability to sell their goods and services but when someone is coming in to do that without supporting the LvC community and abiding by the policies is not fair. Everyone needs to be playing on the same level.

+1. if he did indeed post prices, and try to sell THROUGH LVC, then he should pay to bhecome a vendor here. Can you guys at least get us his email so we can get an aftermarket for us LS owners? That way we can discuss everything outside of LVC. But it's kind of hard since everything was yanked.

PM Joey and ask him if he has his email address.

UPDATE: revolutionaryconcepts is still a valid member here. He wasn't yanked, just the thread. You should still be able to contact him via pm to get more info.
