Ha!

Well some of you might remember why I put the 04 engine in my Mark. But if you dont I will just say Marks, as big as they are, are not boats.

Well I got a tune and all that but it never felt right. The exhaust did not smell right and it carboned up a lot at the tips. Economy was pretty dang good though.

I realized, finally, that the MAF had to be bad. I had cleaned it several times and it never helped. But then I realized that the sensor runs a hot wire in there, 200 degrees max I think? Either way, it got hot with cold water, it would have had to. And any hot metal suddenly cooled will not have the same characteristics it should.

So for cheap I picked up a used 98 MAF and installed it. Holly crap! Its like a new Mark. My friends were impressed before, but I am impressed now.

I really need to get a tuning system that can read the parameters live, I would have seen this long ago.

Oh, and oddly, my gas milage sucks now. Went from easy 30+ @65mph to 24-26 @65mph.

Cool Man, got any pics of the install/ final project as it sits now. ive never seen the swap done!! sounds sick!

Nothing really current.

Gives you the idea though.

Your MAF was a little out of range causing the computer to slightly starve the engine of fuel. You said so yourself, you're friends were impressed before but you're really impressed now. Giving that little bit of fuel back would improve performance.

Have you slapped a wideband on it to see what your WOT AFR's are doing?

which motor is that 99+ c heads with 02 cobra style intake manifold? 03/04 cobras are the terminator, so im guessing thats out of a Billit or Mach? Continental with cobra intake manI?

ive been thinking about a motor build up - my car pulls strong but it doesnt hurt to start piecing parts together, pretty cool to know that they bolt in and work. awesome.

Its a 2004 Aviator engine test engine with 01 Cobra intake and 03/04 Cobra exhaust manifolds. Gen II intake tube and Cobra TB and Cobra Conical intake setup.

You can see in the second pic I tried using a Cobra intake tube, it did not fit.

I probably should. But from what Torrie told me the program tables on a chip dont float. In other words, when you have a tune the parameters are set in stone and the ECU does not adjust for bad O2s and such.

I would think that wrong, that it would have to be able to adapt. Right?

I am going to try other programs also. Right now my timing is being advanced by two additional degrees.
