Okay guys, I have used the search feature and just want some updated opinions. I have got 5/32" on rear factory Michelins and 3/32" on front. Since I'm going to the tire shop to have 'em rotated and re-balanced plus air, I figured I would get some quotes. I have been reading reviews and am thinking of increasing the size to 245/45/17's. The Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season looks like my first choice. South Texas doesnt bring snow or ice, so all season's stay on year long. I just want something that will stick, is quiet, and wears decent... like 30,000 or so. Of course I will sacrifice mileage, fuel and tire wear, for performance. Anybody? Also, Recently installed Stoptech lines, Akebono Pro-Act's... 1,000 miles so far, no fade, and not a squeak. Thanks again guys for having such a sweet forum.

Also, Anyone experience problems with mounting the 245's on factory 17" wheels? Rubbing when turning, ground clearance, blah, blah, blah? Thanks Again

i have 245 on my 20's i don't think it'll be a problem with stock. well, maybe the 45 series since it is taller might make it have clearance problems (not sure).

A stock wheel at 17" will most likely be a 7.5" wide with a 235 tire.

A 20" wheel will most likely be 8.5" wide. I'm not sure about yours Rick but if you are ruining that size wheel then that tire would be fine for you but if you are ruining the 17's then I say a 235 or 225. If you want a bit more cushion I say the 235/40, if you want a more competitive look get a lower sidewall.

I have 235/50 on my 17's. I don't like it, thats how I got the car but it works. The problem is that the tire might mushroom out and may wear funny along with looking like a Jeep Rubicon tire due to a high side wall like that.

Feels pretty good but I hate the look of it, makes me sick!

Please for the love of God stay away from Goodyear tires, especially ones with "Eagle" in the name. Just my .02.

Whats wrong with the Eagle f-1's ? I love those things. Best tire I ever had on any of my cars. Had it on my 01 Ws6 and have always praised it for its ride quality and wet/dry traction.

The F1 A/S is a nice tire. The factory HX MXM4's are garbage. Treadware is garbage and handling is not so great. I will need tires soon and have looked closely at the F1's, Response Edge and there is a Falken Ziex ZE-912 that have gotten some really good reviews. Discount Tire has decent prices but I have found a local shop here in Austin that will match any price on Goodyear tires even if its from tirerack.com which is usually 5-10% cheaper.

When I ran stock 17" wheels, I ran a 255/45 on a 1.75" lowered LS with no issues.

WOW!

On a 7.5" wide wheel?

Easily, here is a pic of the 255's on my previous 2002 LS

Oh I know it works but you didnt have troubles at all withthe tire looking funny and wearing funny?

Its just most people I know think its obsurde to go that big on a wheel that wide. I wouldnt do it but in the pic it looks ok.

I just put a set of BFG g-force Super Sport A/S's on my LS, and it is just fine, even with the Eibach springs.
They also stick real good!

For a tire so good you'll wonder why you didn't use them long ago, go to Michelin Pilot P-2s. I'm using them on Verde Kaos 18X8 rims in 245-45 Zr 18, on my stock height '02 LS Sport.
You'll never look back!

Thats what I said:sleep: , till I got my Proxes T1R's

I had 255/45/17s on mine too, it's looks ok. They do look somehow though. No rubbing or any other problems though.
