The cobra also has a biger drive shaft so you would have to take the one off your old diff to fit your drive shaft

and maybe the rear mount will not line up the same, it mounts to the frame differently.

By the wording it looks to be just the housing anyways. In all honesty unless you plan to run allot of power your stocker 28 spline differential and axle shafts will take a beating before giving up the ghost. No reason to swap to a 31 spline until you are pushing 450-500rwhp or so on a modified stall converter.

If he did indeed want to run the different differential case then he could just reuse his stocker diff cover from his Mark VIII if the Cobra item didn't fit. From the looks of it they look to be pretty close according to memory of the Mark diff cover I have sitting in the garage.

Im in the market for some new gears, it just seems easier if I find a direct bolt in replacement, that has a better ratio, and trac-loc
