The trans will slip in first gear when i give it gas in drive but when I pull into 1 it will not slip at all. Any help will be great. I just bought a 94 with 135k for 1700.

My geuss would be mlps, mainly due to it acting different with the shifter in a different position.
I've read that the EPC solenoid will default to full fluid pressure when the shifter is in the manual 1 or 2 positions.
(I haven't confirmed this so just take it as a 'maybe' for now.)
This could account for the harder shift people feel when manually shifting from 1 to 2.

I did the mlps and it didn't work. I am going to take it to a shop tomorrow. Will any 4R70W fit our cars.

I found one out of a thunderbird and one out of 95 mark viii I thought the thunderchicken would be better cause the mark viii had exhuast and cold air so I would think it was beat on. They want $100 for either one of them. Or he said he has some more around there. Is there any one better to use (mustang,thunderbird, crown vic. etc) that I should look for when I go down tomorrow.
Whichever is built for/after the '98 model year.

YA, I'd go for a '98 or later trans. You'll have to repin but no big deal.

dont get a crown vic one tho, has a longer tail shaft and housing.

stay older then 03 too so basiclly look for 98-02

Thanks guys I found one for $100 with core I can get one out of 98 mark or a 01 gt or a thunderchicken he said ai can look at them and pull which ever one I want

Sorry for all the questions just don't want to waste money. Will a trans from a 1996 thundrebird 3.8 work with no issues it has the lowest milage of all the transmissions he has there.

I would think the bolt pattern on the housing would be different but who knows that is why I asked. I have searched but the feature don't work so well
Doubt it. Even if it did, it's still the wrong way to go.
Get the '98 Mark transmission. It's far less failure prone.
The '01 Mustang trans would be even better, but you'll need to buy a speedometer gear with 19 teeth to make your speedometer show an accurate speed.
