95 same as 96 key swtich

Yes. 93 through 96 are the same. Even the Conti ones worked, I just installed one a couple weeks ago. Nice and chrome, not black. Exact same match.

Are you sure, I have a 96 key blank that I want to use in my 94 but it dose not match the 94 key and it won't slide in the door.

Really? When I had my 95 I got the keys mixed up more than once. They fit but obviously would not turn. I am very certain they are the same.

In what way do they not match? They should be "S" keys. That is if you look at them with the tip pointed art you is looks like an S.

when did the marks switch over to coded keys (anti theft chipped keys) 96 or 97?

i know the ford taurus and mustangs switched in 96.

??

Correct, 97 was the year of PATS for the Mark. My 96 defiantly does not have it.

Ok well there is a guy here with a 95 that I will get the key from and see what happens. When I look at my 94 key and my 96 blank

1) The "S" is not cut all the way down in the 96.
2) There is a flute cut down the middle on each side on the 96.
3) It is about two mm longer on the 96.

Most Ford models switched to a newer key mid 1996 model year. This is easily identified by a plastic ignition switch shroud (which is same as the 97+/98+ models w/ PATS) versus the older metal one. Those with this style can't use -96.5 keys, most 96.5 models with this style shroud used a key head that looked the same as the -96.5, and doesn't fill up the shroud.

Again, not sure if this applies to Mark VIIIs though.

Those keys are the same. The length and the cut does not matter. You measure from the tip back, thats all.
