Has anybody put drain/vent holes in thiertail light to keep mold from growing in there? Today i saw a couple black flecks in my tail light and i was wondering if i could get ride of the moisture thats locked in there by anding some drain/vent holes.

i've seen it done on headlights, but if you get bored one weekend, you could always take them out and wash them out with 409 and use a hairdryer to dry them out. then silicone the edges and hope it works.

Instructions and photos by Richard McCarthy glitchm@hotmail.com I purchased his repair kit for the ballast and it works great. These instructions and photo's came with it.

This can be done by drilling a 1/8 holes in each lower corner of the light assembly. (Light assembly does not have to be removed) Drill through the light assembly as close to the black plastic backing as possible.

THANKS A LOT, THATS JUST THE INFORMATION I NEEDED!

in my experiance and others drilling holes always allowed the moisture to come in, but i dont know i guess it worked out for some......good luck, id just takem apart.

I always thought the same, that holes would invite the moisture but, since I drilled the holes last November, I have been moisture free. I think the real test will be when the humidity reaches that nice balmy 87% here in NH in August. If it stays dry, I will be a confirmed believer. I have a moisture problem with the fender mounted tail lights and they have moisture in them still (some days they are like little tiny ice cubes rattling around), I can't wait for the weather to warm up.

I had purchased 96 HID's for my 93 and about a month after I installed them I noticed water droplets in them. Me being the lazy kinda old poop that I am looked for a quick way to remove the water.
I took a small wet/dry shop vac and fitted the nozzle with shrink tubing so I could get a very small opening without the tubing collapsing from the suction. I unplugged all the light sockets and proceeded to suck all of the water out. I let them sit for about an hour on the 1 sunny day we had and then applied hi-temp silicone to the sockets. I re-installed the sockets and I have not had any more moisture problems.
I did not add any vents but, I do not know if the lights already had vents in them. I believe I read that the 2nd gen's do have vents already.

Has anyone torn off the Lincoln Mark VIII logo on there tail light? Does it leave any nasty residue or indentations?

I would say yes, but I dont own one. All the logos I have pulled off a gen one had a sticky residue but I was always able to remove it.
