Hello all..... .. I have a big decision to make. I want to retain the air-ride but am worried about reliability. The reason i am thinking new susp is due to the fact that it rides like a dam truck (97lsc). Kinda like a m8 thats dropped to the ground. It's horrible!! It holds air though and doesn't leak (126k).

I have been thinking hard and long about this. I am really trying to get this car back into shape and would love to retain everything it came with.

The decision:

Lowered conv kit: 1yr old, roughly 10k. $250 shipped.

Air-ride: Comes with front struts, rear bags, 3 height sensors,4 solonoids little less than 1 yr old, arnott, and i could probably get them for $350

I see the air ride as the best deal but with the sacrafice of reliability.I really like the look of the lowered kit but i'd probably sensor it if i bought the bags. Which brings up another point. I'll have 19's and would like the adjusability to suit my taste incase the lowered kit interfeared.

desicions

Also, could binding balljoints cuase a stiff ride? my steerings really hard to.

i had the lowered conversion kit on my 93.. i also had 18x7.5's .. and it bottomed out over dips and bumps.. even worse if i had passengers.. so im guessing it will do the same for your 19's

it did look bada$$ !!!!

Thats one of the concerns i have aswell. The 19's are 8.5" wide but only have 225/35's on em. Sucks. Eh, bought them as a pacage for 500 and the tires had less than 1000 miles on em'. The tires alone were worth 689.87. So pretty much he said buy the tires get the rims for free.

/Sidetrack.

Another idea i was thinking about was to buy the lowered kit, use the front struts and keep the rear air. Just to keep that mk 8 charm.

I have found thru personal experience that sensor lowering your car an inch or two will considerably soften the ride. I like my PARK height to be "1 finger clearance between the top of the tire and the fender lip in front", and the rear just a tick more than that. It gives the car a better stance and the tires never rub.

Well that stinks. First time i've heard that. But yea, i like that stance aswell.

He accepted my offer fot 350. I think i'm sticking with air.

Cool. I like the air-ride too. I just put new rear bags in. Keep in mind that on the Mark, like many cars, the rear end controls a lot of the suspension. Get new shock absorbers in the rear and you will swear you put new all the way around. (Yes, the front absorbers are in the air shock).

Replacing the rear bags is EASY by the way. Lots of write-ups if you are not familiar.

On a side note, I personally would never have air-ride without a height mod kit of sorts. The ModuleVIII and the ASHAM (or whatever they are called :) ) are great. You can adjust your height on the fly while still maintaining the auto-leveling and highway lowering features.
