in middle of installing walboro some stuff broke please help

Glad to see you got it running. I think I am going to the SuperCoupePerformance route like Unity.

thanks a lot for the help though, i appreciated the posts.. yesterday my car was notttt runing right at all and i was really really bummed. but its all gravy baby now!

Great!

By the way, SuperCoupe did not call me back :( Too late to have it in time for "Weekend fun at the Garage" event :(

i ordered mine through A&A autoparts - they match pricing on summit - but you have to pay like 7 bucks for shipping but its there next day - i orderd at 7 it was there at 2 30 the next day.

im breaking in my 4.10s and limited slip, i have a bunch of b.s. maintance to do before i go with any more performence, but im in the right place. i want to get some quality spark plugs and wires, jmod with the updated springs and pistons. i gotta fix all the stuff ive been breaking doing my own work, but hey if you think about how much you save working on your own car, time is money yea but i have a lot of time and not so much money! :-)

at least with a new fuel filter and 255, ive eliminated whatever fuel issues i may have been having. i guess an FPR and injectors are up next after the maintance stuff is done.

this motor craves boost

i ordered mine basically through summit its edelbrock 3581 or something? i dunno its for chevy or gmc SUV 5.7 litre. it does not come with a hose for the pump to the bracket, for 2 bucks you can make your own :-) DO NOT USE THE STOCK HOSE ITS BUNZZZ

That sucks... I wonder what the difference is in their pumps and the walboro

Ya, its the same. But from what I was told it comes with extra items to make the job easier?

Abe, are you sure you are talking about "fuel lines"?

from the description is sounds like your talking about an "air ride line".
( 2 inches of grey rubber black flexible plastic) doesnt sound like a fuel line to me, sounds like an air ride line.

Does your car have air ride or is it a coil coversion car?
(I hate to have to ask that question, but with so many coil conversion's out there it's hard to keep track)

i got a coil conversion 1.5 drop . its the line that runs back to the fuel tank from whatever you call the carbon canister on lincolns... its no biggie - im just waiting on funds to get a fresh heavy duty jack so i can have at it. right now i just have it tied up so its out of the way of the tire. this is a 5/16's maybe diameter black shiney plastic bendable hose - with a grey rubber thing on the end, looks like it probably connects the hose to the line that runs to the one on the fuel tank that just pulls off , to the right of the fuel pump thing - you know you have four hoses, two have clips on the fuel pump, and the other two you just pull off on the other thing, well its the smaller one of that one, but its in the fender looks like it fell off - no biggie. i was so shook that fluid was gonna start coming out, but for now i have a slight vac leak.

thats cool of them, all you really need to do is go on summit racing.com get the edelbrock pump for like 102 bucks - go to the parts store buy your own fuel line and suitable clamps - ill check my receipts for the actually sizes. im not sure how much super coupe charges, but thats everyhting you need there to do the job correctly - so you dont have to redo it like i did!

im not sure why they give you a new electrical connector, the walboro plugs right into the factory harness - but i guess if your line is cracked or broken that would come in very handy.

We did a fuel pump on a chevy truck last night , He did realize that he needed to rewire the plug until the tank was back in the truck . That was fun

The pump does cost more. $139 I think. But I know Bill and I trust him. Nice guy. He managed to over-night it with Saturday shipping to my business. Depending on how my morning goes, I will have the pump in time for install this weekend!!!!! Cant wait!

the hardest part for me ofthe install was dropping the exhaust, and that's because i have a lame jack. i just took out the two bolts closer to the front of the car and the fuel tank will just flip down - giving you enough room to get the fuel pump out

OMG, that was total PITA!

I replaced my pump. The "kit" I got from SuperCoupe had a filter on the end that was too large it seems (see pics). It caused the pump to sit a half inch too high. I had to cut a half inch off teh pump caddy with the Dremel to raise the pump. It took a few tries to get the pump height right. It still sits in the tank with pressure on the inner bucket. Not only that the o-ring was too small for the tank seal at the pump. I had to use the old one.

If you have a 96, do not buy from SuperCoupe unless you like BIGGER projects! :D

Anyone else have this issue?

Abrahm,
Like someone suggested I could have been pmd. I did not have any problems on both my Marks. I put the 190LPH on my 94 and the 255 LPH on my 96
I am no profesional but I have replaced two of these ,yes you have to modify. Thought the pictures would help understand.
Both my sock filters pushed right on. I replaced both short fuel lines. I would do that while it was apart anyway.Sorry for your problems I'm just adding my two cents.
it doesnt say anything about the fuel pump filter sock at all - it looks like he did basically what i did - except for my fuel line from the pump to the housing wasnt cracked at all - i just reused the old one it was snug and looked good. as far as that rubber thing that goes around the pump it looks like he modified that and the carrier - but he didnt bother to write anything about it?

the stock fuel sock from the a stock mark viii pump does not fit on a walboro - however there are some gen I posts that say it does... it does not... just like it says the rubber isolator will fit *but will be snug* on the walboro - no it does not fit on whatsoever with out cutting it on the bottom to fit the fuel sock that comes with the walboro, because the stock fuel sock will not fit on the walboro - these are things that are assumed on posts that are "write ups" that you will discover are not the case when you actually do the job.

it would be nice if someone would do a walboro GEN I install in the tech articles - the Gen II is competely different - even the bolt sizes are different for the fuel tank straps - they are 13mm on a Gen I.

im not arguing that the basic idea is there, which it did help me. but when it comes to second guessing yourself, it is easy to do as you run into a lot of questions that arnt answered. Words like modify can be very broad.

and the only reason i was so uptight about it was because of the fact that we're dealing with gas here... which i heard is pretty flammable! lol - i didnt throw caution to the wind.

I've helped do over 8 fuel pumps in the last 6 month 1 was for my TC (the 1 We pulled out work ?? Great)
the biggest thing is how full the tank is !! or How big the tank is

chevy 454 trucks have a bath tub sided gas tanks, 1/4 tank is 15 gl

I have a scar on my leg form dropping a mini van tank & it hitting me as it fell off the jack

"even the bolt sizes are different for the fuel tank straps - they are 13mm on a Gen I."

They were 13mm on my 96 though.

Atleast you "planned" to change your pump rather than being "forced" to change the pump as I was on my first one.

IT died AT the dragstrip, moments before round 1.
and.. we changed the pump AT the dragstrip, on the ground, in the grass!
It was a TOTAL PITA.

Subsequent pump changes were a breeze, as I had time to "plan" for the install, and got to "run ALL the gas" out of the car.

Unlike the first time, with a 1/2 full tank of gas, on the ground, in the grass.
