Hi. I bought my 05 White LSV8 in June with 22k miles on it for 21k. I absolutly think this is the best car I've ever had. Now that I've been lurking on this board. I wish mine had the navigation system, LSE package and wood trim. I have the nickel trim. Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining about my car. BUT..................

I was paroosing autotrader today and found a 2006 LS V8 with 13k miles on it. It has navi, LSE, Chrome wheels, and wood trim. They want 22k for it. I owe 19k for my current car. Am I crazy for thinking about doing this. It is green btw. Think maybe I could get them to throw in the cerified vehicle to get the 6 yr/ 75k miles warranty. I already have that on my current car. Would I absolutly have to pay for that again. I now have 28k on my car. Thanks for your thoughts.

That sounds great, but I'm a lady who knows not a thing about modifying a car myself. I love what you all have done. But I have no garage, tools or know how to do things myself, and no desire to spend boatloads of money letting someone do it for me. I love my stock LS, why I got it. Just thinkin about an even nicer one. =)

I have chrome wheels and they're nice looking when you polish them up, but eventually they corrode and the chrome blisters. This makes it near impossible to get a good balance. Mine swelled so bad the clips for the center cap snapped. Stick with your current car, the painted wheels last forever.

Buy the o6', but keep the 05'. Or just have what you want, done to your 2005.

If you can't do the work yourself or know someone who can help out or hook you up, I say go for what you want and get the other car.

If your an RN like your user name says, you have the intellegence to figure out how to modify your car to what you want. I'm an accountant for christ sake and I just did an engine swap in my Explorer. I do all my own work that doesn't involve tools that cost more than $200 that I can't borrow such as tire mounting machines, paint booths, etc. The tools are an investment in future mods. I'd bet if you search Ebay, Craigslist and what not you can find a nav system, the wheels you want and the trim you want out of a wrecked car. If you find the wheels you want, you can have any tire shop mount tires on them, then mount them on your car.

If you really don't want to do it yourself the dealer could mount the Nav system for you if you are afraid of doing it wrong. The Dealer could do the trim too if you really wanted it. You could also get a wood trim conversion kit from Ebay that is nothing more than vinyl that stick over the existing trim. If you can apply stickers, you can put on that type of trim.

Come on guys, she just needs a little enouragement!

Ultimately its your decision, but a few things to remember before you trade up.
Every day you wait your car is worth less on trade. Of course the car you desire will be worth less as well, but the dealer does have a certain amount invested in the car, and he will be reluctant to take a loss on the sale. So the price of the car you want can only go down by so much.

Depending on the terms of your loan though, you might be upside down just a bit at this point. Upside down means that you owe more money on the loan than the car's estimated blue book value, or how much its worth.

You have found yourself in a similar position to mine. I'm currently wading between selling/trading in my LS or keeping it for a while longer.

The best place to start, would be to find out the value of your car, and compare that with the amount you still owe. Keep in mind that there may be fees associated with closing your loan, so you should ask for the total payoff amount when you talk to the lender. Some banks don't charge fees, some do, some depend on the type of loan, or the duration of the term.

I love my '06... :D

I actually did the same thing you are thinking. I had an '02 black/tan V8 but was always looking around for a Vivid Red LS. When I saw my LS close to home, I jumped on it. But I didn't owe anything on my '02.... That is probably a big difference.

Good luck.

I wish mine had the navigation system, LSE package and wood trim. I have the nickel trim.

I have both aluminum & wood trim, covered the nickel color plastic with real wood burl.

tell you the truth if you have to pay over 3g's out of pocket to trade up dont do it this is why
1= if you like the LSE look you can buy the bumper with the fogs from lsconcepts and have it mounted and painted for less then a grand

2= extended warrenty is not transferable from car to car but it is from owner to owner for example the next owner that buys your car will get the warrenty that you just paid for but you will have to buy it again when you get a new car trust me on this one when i traded in my towncar for the LS i didnt even touch the extended warrenty and i had to buy it again.

3= i have the THX nav system and it does sound amazing but do you want it for the sound or just the nav system, in eather case you can get a really kick ass system for less than 2 grand and thats with a indash nav system that can play DVD's.

since your not getting any performance upgrade when you trade up then really your going to pay more for the same car, and i understand that you may not be willing to or may not know how to do these things yourself but hey thats why we are here for, so feel free to ask us (please search first, lol) keep your current LS.

Yeah, Yeah, I know I wasn't thinkin correctly about this. I guess we always want what we don't have. I saw the LSE package on this car, the navi and the fact that it only has 13k miles on it. I guess as mine creeps closer to 30k miles I was thinking about that too. Just wish my LS could stay newer. I would certainly lose all the payments I have made on my current car the past eight months and probably then some. It's such a shame they aren't making the LS anymore, I would have certainly bought another one. I would probably be feelin the same way as the 06 started getting more miles on it. Wheels aren't really an issue, I know I can have them put on at the tire shop. I think I can handle putting applique wood on my current trim if I want and can have navi installed if I want that too. I will probably not be making this upgrade. Thanks for listening to my rant, talkin sense into me.
