I think there are only stock and Monroe. Monroe is garbage....

thats funny i was about to buy monroe to they had them for like 80 a piece.. good looks tho i ll get the stock

The tried and proven method is OEM Sport Package shocks along with the Eibach Pro Kit. This setup works fine with stock 17 inch wheels or 18 inch wheels with PROPER offset and proper tire size. Cant speak for anything else above 18, but once you do venture above 18's, your risk of rubbing increases.
For those running your dubs/twinkies..pls comprehend my statement above and know the difference between "increases risk" and "definitely rubs".

If you're going to get the eibach's, wait on the shocks... do it at the same time. Trust me... it will save you tons of time (you're essentially doing the exact same thing)... or money if you pay to have it done.

The springs go OVER the shocks. Its called a McPherson (sp) strut

I had Monroes on my LS at one time and they were like not having any shocks at all. I can attest that the Monroes are garbage in the LS. Remember, the LS shock only has about 4 inches of travel. So, getting a shock designed for the LS is key. The OEMS are by far the best you'll be able to get for your car.
It's not a McPherson strut. The presence of an upper control arm makes it a coil over. McPherson relies upon the shock itself to provide all lateral rigidity to the suspension. SLA (short-long arm) suspensions have shocks

so when i had my rear struts replaced, they were actually shocks?

make sure you get the camber kit...i'm thinking about getting the EURO's...i have a sport, with eibach's, and 18's...my rear end is wide....mine didnt come in, in time...about to put it on soon tho...what about energy suspension? do they make bushings for us?...
Energy makes a load of "universal" bushings... you'd just have to figure out what dimensions you need.
The camber kit is unnecessary and it only works on the rear I believe
And yes, the "struts" they installed were really shocks. Even the ford people incorrectly identified the rears (I think it was the rears) as struts... while they correctly named the front shocks. As I stated before, a strut is the sole upper link for the suspension; it is what provides all lateral stability. That is why the design is inherently inferior to a SLA suspension... It allows for more flex than a properly engineered SLA design. Evidence of this can be seen in the requirement for strut braces, and the fact that virtually all high-end sports and race cars run SLA both front and rear.
That isn't to say a modified McPherson strut system can not be made to perform.... It just isn't a given virtue of the design from the factory.
