Well I finally got my new headlight, as you can see from the new pictures and the pic of the old one this is a great improvement. The only bad thing with the new one is that a mount has been broken and repaired but I dont think thats a big deal. I got it for $61 so I can live with that minor problem.

Are there any tips to changing these out?

Once I get the old one out I'm gonna try to fix it and see how that goes.

Let me know what you think.

Its a pretty straight forward job. Start by removing the screw that holds the rear of the assy in tight to the fender. Then go up top and remove the three bolts that hold the light assy in place. Then follow the hi and lo beam wires back to a connector and disconnect them. Be sure the leads are free and not hooked to anything else. Pull the assy straight forward. As soon as you have the clearance, disconnect the turn light, the parking light, and the marker light from the assy by turning the socket 1/4 turn counter clockwise. I always put a towel over my lap and work there. Remove the hi and lo bulbs from the assy being very careeful not to touch the bulbs and set aside. Turn the assy upside down and look at the clips that hold the painted trim to the bottom of the assy. Start at one end, and gently bend the trim down while pulling away from the assy to disconnect the tabs. Reinstall in reverse order.

If I may ask, Why didn't you just clean the lense with some blue magic or rubbing compound? It would have cleaned it up like new.

I didnt want to do that to it because the chrome is comming off on the inside. I figured I would get another good headlight then pull out the bad one split it, try to fix it, and sell it. That way if I mess up on it I'm not out a headlight.

Well that's a good reason! It seems that Ford had really bad luck with the chroming process back in the day.
