99 Cobra Rear End

Hi Kustom
I see no one has answered so ill put my 2 cents in.... My cobra kit guys use the 98 and before diffs for their cars, the 99 is a different p/number but the same guts so the innards would work. The outer housing might be mounting differently so maybe that is why the do not use it. 2000 and up have 31 spline and that cannot be used.I cannot tell from my parts catalogs.

the guts work in the mark housing but a cobra housing will not bolt into a mark.

Just curious, are you referring to the 98 diff from the mark? I ask because the cobra didn't have IRS till 99... I'm just clarifying for those not in the "know"

BTW, I just read on "theautochannel.com" that the IRS for the cobra was taken from the Mark. (same with wheel bearings) So apparently a 99 cobra diff would work just fine. 2000-up and you run into 31 spline axles though...

Perhaps the full assembled part number difference is due to having limited slip in the cobra, not in the Mark. Also, a standard mark is 3.08:1 where the LSC and cobra run 3.27:1

The Cobra unit FITS!! I have personally put them in MANY times including in my own Mark.
We used to buy them all done from the FMS catalog where they were listed as 99 Cobra units.

wow im gonna have to take a closer look at mine. (its been over a year since ive even seen the car. its still sitting on maui)
