air intake

be prepared for about 5 a55holes giving you links to other threads that will prob answer this........ just letting you know. ;)

So you didn't even answer the question.... helpful

Anything is possible, if you want to make a custom intake you can. Nobody makes an aftermarket tube that bolts to the stock throttle body.

I would slice off the air sillencer and add a cold air intake setup like Driller has.

I actually answer you question, yes. You can remove the airbox itself and drill holes on the front side, thats before the filter! :) 2 inch or so would work. Basically you are making swiss cheese of it.

Then you have the intake tubes itself. It also has a couple "silencers" on it. I think one is molded on and would require some work to make it a clean removal. But the other you can remove and get a 2 or 2.5 inch rubber cap from the plumbing department and worm clamp that on. Actually the rubber cap may have a worm clamp with it.

edit: kid beat me!

edit again, pic I have of mine, well the one I have in storage:

You can see where I capped it off, but that big flat piece should come off too if you are up to it.

Didn't know that simply answering a question honestly and simply meant that I was being sarcastic and rude.

Nobody makes a custom air intake that bolts on except Geno, but that is just a stock tube with the silencer shaved off. A good example of a cold air intake would be Drillers set up which I recomened.

theres your sarcasm.

Ummm this is the Mark VIII forum... we are a bit more courtious and helpful in here than the posts I've read in the LS forum..

Although from time to time there have been a few a-holes... funny most of them have left...

The only one sounding like an a-hole right now is you... so be constructive!! and help the LvC Forum out...

So with that... ladenblowfish there are a few options out there but most come from ideas that you find from T-Birds or Mustangs.

There are no real bolt ons but you can get some adaptors for the MAF that allow for you to attach a cone filter... you there are a few Cold Air Boxes but not always easy to find. Most make there own set up using parts you can pick up at a local hardware store.

Below is what I've done with my 94. Air Silencer Removed. Because I don't have the air ride on this Mark VIII I was able to put my Air Filter below where my air ride compressor use to sit.

It's not the best set up and there are some flaws as the 90 degree elbow is probably not the best right before the MAF, but this set up does work for me.
