so today i was waitin in the drive thru line at Taco Bell when the guy in a 06 mustang gt decides he cant wait any longer and decides to back up.Well lucky for me i was behind him and he smashes on the gas and hits my front bumper:mad:. my whole bumper has been raped! its not cracked or anything jus his paint is smeared all over it! He called his insurance i called mine and we got everything exchanged. I wanted to know since i got a 05 ls V6 i really want an LSE bumper and wanted to know how i can go about doing that? cuz i dont have an lse bumper i jus have a stock one and wanted to know what i can do to get one!:)

thanx in advance

it all depends on your insurance. I was involved in a small fender bender years ago and they just cut me a check for the damages with the agreement that they would not pay for another claim on that same part of the car unless I proved to them that I got it fixed. The 2nd time was storm related damage: hail and a tree across the cab of my F150. Again, they cut me a check. I don't think there's anything wrong with outright asking your agent. For the record, my company is State Farm.

ask him what his deductable(sp) is if the kit is less then his deductable he may just want to settle with you instead of going through insurance.

i.e. deductable = $500 probably wont work
deductable = $1000 if he is smart he will deal with you for lets say $850 cash....

should pay for front facia kit from Ken plus paint

i called and he said his deductible is 500 and he wants to go through insurance. his paint is smeared on my car by the way. his insurance called me and told me an appraiser will come and check it out. so will they come and check it and ask me if i want to get it repaired by one of their body shops or one i prefer or send me a check?

in minnesota, you don't have to accept their first offer. We can call BS, and provide estimates of what it actually costs to fix. Also, we can bring it to our choice of repair shop, and the insurance company MUST honor our decision. maybe it's the same in your state too...

Also, there is nothing illegal (to my knowledge) about having the body shop source the bumper from Ken.

first of all the deductible doesnt matter at all in the case since the other guy's insurance is paying for the ls. if it were the ls's fault the deductible would matter. but since its the other car's fault the deductible doenst matter for the ls, just the other car. second you should get 3 estimates (go to the most expensive places). they will take the average of the 3 and cut you a check for that. atleast thats how the insurance company i work for does it. it is not illegal to go threw ken or even keep the money and pay bills with it. once they cut you the check, the claim is closed and they could care less what you do with the money. if it were me i would find the three highest estimates and present those. take the check, call ken and go that route.

I'm not talking about the LS's deductible, I was referring to the mustangs, I know it isn't the LS's fault so therfore that deductible would not be an issue. The point I was making is that is he(the mustang owner) had a high deductible then he may go for paying cash and keeping the insurance company out of it as to not raise his own rates.

I hope this clears up any confusion about my post, but I'm pretty sure most everyone else understood what my point was!
