as a few of you know i'm in need of both lower ball joints. last week i saw how much the parts were but i didn't have the money so i couldn't buy. now i have the money and i go back and saw that they no longer have the same price. it was 217 for each side last week and now it's 267 for each. that price was there last week as well but from the 267 they gave me another discount. am i doing something wrong? that's a hundred bucks, makes a difference. if anyone can help me let me know

Are you sure it was not Maxx at Five Star Ford, try calling him the number is on the right==>

maxx at 5 star raised their prices and team ford was giving me a great deal for like 450 now it's more like 530. sucks, 1 week wouldve saved me a hundred bucks after shipping and all

Hi Rick....Sorry for the price increase.....Max dont raise prices though....Ford does. I can do a one time $258.66 each if that will help. If they were old stock I would hold the price but it was ordered and recd after Steve bought the last set. I cannot charge you less than I pay for them. Retail is now $359.25 each ( I am assuming they are the small ones)

Ford raised a BUNCH of prices on 1/7/08. I had to reflect some of those prices on my website. Mrzee is right...we don't raise the prices...Ford does!

Did anyone ever establish whether or not the recall steering knuckle replacement kits were still available? They were only $119 a side and included all hardware disturbed on the replacement, every pop plastic fastener, every nylock nut, the brake rotor backside shields, all new rivets for those shields, etc. The kicker was that at that time, the regular part cost for just the knuckle and no nuts or anything else, was well over $100 more per side. This was for the 2000 recall for untorqued ball joints. I'll open up my service dvd and look up the recall bulletin again tonight.

Now I see why junkyards may be the best solution for steering knuckle jobs now! :-) That pricing is absurd. Of course it's now a dying breed that is out of production. Perhaps some machine shop should now be investigating the aspect of replacing the ball joints. They could make a killing on a $30 part to press into an old knuckle.

Ok, here are the recall parts for the first generation LS steering knuckles:

1W4Z-3C320-RH (right side)

1W4Z-3C320-LH (driver's side)

If these are still out there, they could end up being your best deal, especially considering the hardware that comes with them.

This gets you new lower ball joints with the surrounding steering knuckle, which holds your wheel and brake on the car.

trust me i tried. i called the dealer and they ran my vin and said there was no recall for that specific part. maxx, thanks i will purchasing them from you, i will give you a call soon (i need to put the money in the bank). and i didn't mean to imply anything negative towards 5 star, i was just stating to people that don't know that FORD (correcting myself) increased parts cost. thanks agian guys. 517.32 plus shipping doesn't seem that bad versus dealer prices. thanks again maxx

Well guys

This number if for the 2000-2001 early LS (must be small ones) and are available. It is a complete kit per side. Has a list of 235.98 and cost you 176.99 each. They show plenty of stock and they are recall parts. I am not sure if I can sell them without a vin but if you would like them I will order them for you and see what happens. I guess some of the Wixom plant robots did not tighten the lower ball joints correctly and some got away and had to be replaced.
Max

Excellent news, Max! I may even buy a pair to keep handy!

Guys, you can't go wrong with these kits, trust me. You may not even have to rob peter to pay paul to get them! :)

maxx, when they ran my vin they told me it was made in 7/18/00. would these be the small ones? and if so i will call you asap to pick up both sides. this would be the best news i've heard in an extremely long time

Without question, they should be. But to be safe, wait for Max. :)

I should have popped in them part numbers a few weeks back, their price probably just went up, too, and could have been cheaper before that price increase. Sorry I didn't do that.

One last thing: Isn't it weird that we're dealing with 5-star on a topic with team ford in the title? Wow.

lol, i know. i hope i'm not treading on any type of fine rule here by speaking of prices and stuff on here. hopefully they do fit my car tho, financially that would help me immensely, but knowing my luck i'm sure they won't and i'll have to spend the 517 vs the 354. 163 dollar difference, wow!

just purchased both knuckles from maxx, can't beat that price guys. give him a call. came out to 354 plus shipping (under 20 bucks). dealer was charging more than that for just one. thanks maxx, and you guys that think yours might give out, pick them up while they last. remember ford increased their prices so i'm sure once these are gone they will start selling the increased price ones.
