Hey guys new to the forum, joined awhile back and just been lookin around.

i own a 2000 lincoln LS v8, grey, stock alpine system, tinted windows, 105,800 miles (lol yea i keep track). first luxoury car ive owned. im 20 yrs old and live in cincinnati ohio. car is stock for now and i love it. what i dont love is not hearing the V8 under the hood. I have the exhaust picked out....flowmaster 40's on stock piping. i want to retain the stock piping 1: because its cheaper 2: becuase i dont care about perfromance, just sound. i dont want a loud droning noise but i want to hear it.

anyways i did a search on the forum, found alot of exhaust threads. however i only found one that had a number of 2.25" but never found in the thread if that was correct or what the size of the other exhuast was. i could go measure it i suppose but i figured you guys could help me out and it would give me a chance to introduce myself.

Also any tips for "swollen" lug nuts? LOL...i know its common problem but if i buy new ones i dont want the same thing to happen with corosion and the chrome plating. any kind that i should look into that wont have that happen?

Welcome to the Asylum and yes the stock LS exhaust piping is 2.25"

As for the lug nuts, the newer ones from Lincoln (post 2002) corrected the crappy chrome covers on the '00-'01 nuts. I'm sure someone here can get you the part number if you need it. But any quality aftermarket lug nut will do just as well. Just remember that the nut size is 12mm x 1.5 with a 63.6 center bore.

I need some new tips not sure what size to pick-up.
The stock LSE tips look so small with my new exhaust
because they hang kinda low. Any help would be good :D

Quick questions this kinda off topic but whats a good way to clean your cat converter/exhaust? If its clogged or what not...

Flowmaster? I've only heard it on youtube, and i give it 2 thumbs WAY down. From what i've heard anyways.... Magnaflow sounds SO much better. Plus i've heard that you can just buy the mufflers and tips, then have a shop use their own pipes. Should save some $$.

Just a note: I don't have aftermarket exhaust yet, so the only thing i have to go on is sound clips from the internet.

I got the flowmasters and love the way it sounds.
You have to hear it in person before you make comments.

All a matter of preference. Magnaflow - no resonators- just sounds beefier. More muscle sounding.

Although, come to think of it, i don't know what engine the flowmasters were hooked up to. If they were on a V6, that would have an impact.

+1 Every one argues this but they ( most of them ) only so far had Magnaflows on the car, I have gone with both and I love the sound from the Flowmaster Hush Power II's way more. They have a loud V8 Rumble but yet its a low classy tone to it not that Mustang crackle that everyone seems to associate Flowmaster with.. In my opinion the Magnaflows just arent right they seem to just have a low tone, when you step on it it does get louder but its not the tone I want and the Hush Powers are loud and low and they rumble but don't have that almost somewhat annoying sound that some other Flowmasters have.

Its really hard to explain but you should hear both, then you would understand...sound clip

That sound clip sounded NOTHING like the one i heard before. The one you posted is way better. I don't know if i necessarily like it better, but it does sound very good. I retract my previous post about the Flowmaster not being as throaty as the magnaflow.

Thats weird, I don't consider the Mganaflows throaty at all just Low I have heard better V6's with Magnaflows than what I think the LS sounds with them but thats just me I guess. I don't know which ones give more PROVEN power but my Hushpowers feel better. The thing about that is at this point I understand that the car ain't going to gain much more power than what it has with out a expensive flash and extensive work like Quick Ls so I'm happy despite the fact that louder don't mean faster.

Everyones entitled to what they feel is right with situations like this and thank god for that... in a good way.

so once again three numbers 2.25, 2.00 and 1 7/8ths lol.

i like the flowmasters, im also going to keep a hidin exhaust, looks cleaner to me. i hate fighting the looks of exhaust tips, did that for years with my camaro and trans am.

i actually wanted to go with a muffler i found and loved. its the moroso spiral flow. used that on my camaro, deepest cleanest sounding muffler ive used. but the long tube headers and ORY also played a role in the sound. i dont trust that hushpower II soundclip, all cars sound different, so do trucks. y pipe, x pipe, h pipe, resonators, cats, off road pipes, headers...you never know whats in front of that hushpower II, nor the engine. i like the moroso spiral flow but the smallest there is is 2.5 inch. when i put it on my camaro i had a SLP loudmouth, off road y pipe, and long tube headers (basically straight pipes). put the spiral flow on it quieted it down but the best was how smooth it was revving, didnt pop on the way down.

anyways thanks for the info so far
