Just picked up a 94 Mark 8, not even a month after selling my 2000 LS.

Have experience with the MN12 chassis for about 10 years now (bought my 92 XR7 in 97), and LOVE this Mark 8. It's a very refined version of my Cougar.

Anyways, nearly wrecked it driving home tonight, the lights are HORRIBLE. Can't see anything unless I drive with the highbeams on (which work OK). I know these cars have problems with the insides turning chalky/opaque.

Can they be taken apart and the inside of the lenses be polished, or are there 'cheap' replacements for them?

I don't want to be inconsiderate by keeping my high beams on, but can't see anything with low's.

I usually drive with my high beams on cuz my lows are so bad. Most people don't even notice they are my highs. I get flashed every once in a while.

I agree. At night I drive w/ my brights on 100% of the time. I aimed my lights down just a bit. I've been flashed once in my 2+ years driving this way. Other than buying new headlights, there's not much you can do. Mespock had his redone I think, but I don't know much about the results. No aftermarket options as well.

Yeah mespock got his redone by some guy he knows. He's on a road trip right now but you can send him a PM and when he gets back he should be able to help you out.

OK, I drove home with the high's on, nobody flashed me either.

Could it be that the car is running with the DRL's, because the multi-disfunction switch isn't working properly? My Cougar did that a few times, and replacing that fixed the low beams.

Just throwing that out there, may or may not be the problem.

Hi Rich, got the PM including the email - will fire off a message to see what his rates are.

I have taken apart lights myself before, and am familiar with polishing plastic - and may just undertake this task myself (saves shipping and being without lights for a bit).

Yeah I realize the MN12 and FN10 aren't the same, but they are sooo very similar. Have wanted a Mark for years but couldn't justify the cost difference.

Kinda like when I bought my LS I really wanted a Jag S type but didn't want to spend the difference. Good thing I didn't go for the Jag, it would have kept me even closer to broke :D.
