When Damnit When?!?!?!

Don't hold your breath. They have pushed out the release of that system the last 9 months or so. What I was told is that they are releasing products that have a higher volume of resale. The 03+ LS system is not a high seller to them at this time. I'd say they might release it someday but I don't think it will be anytime soon.

My buddy NickT (NickT88LSC on here) does exhaust work up in Ramsey, NJ if you want him to do yours..? Beats paying through the nostrils for that kit that may never even come out. There's a link in my sig to pics of mine..

theres only one distant pic of the tips in there.

whats your consist of and how much does he charge?

Tips are minor (and not the ones I thought I ordered lol). I took more pics of the work and welding he did on it.

Mine's all 2.5" from the cats with a 2 in / 2 out mid muffler in place of the stock resonators and two mufflers out back. Only thing is, it's not mandrel bends, which really isn't a big thing on a motor that has no aftermarket to push big power out of that 3.9.

I'll send him a message and have him PM you or reply here. I don't know what he charges - I just help him out from time to time.

alright so far i am going to use flowmaster hush mufflers on it. i have no idea what cats to use. and i guess i have to take it to a shop to have it welded and the tube bent to fit? if i change everything from cats back ill get some extra juice out of it i assume....i do not know exhaust atl all

I never did understand paying all that money on aftermarket cat back exhausts, when all you see is the tips.

The LS's are easy to make a custom exhaust on, and yeah - so what if it's mandrel bent? Best bang for the buck I did was exhaust on my Cougar, $300 Cdn paid for pipes+labor, and another $200 for high-flow cats, he did right from the manifolds back.

Man... I couldn't wait. My custom exhaust is being installed as I type. T_Man's setup is the one I'm going with.

i dont really understand exhaust, i know its simple and i sound dumb as :q:q:q:q but what do i want i really have no clue....i was ready to buy hushpower 2's but they're $220 a muffler which seems ridiculous. i need cat's right to keep the CEL off so do I want aftermarket cats or keep them stock, do they affect performance noise?? same with resonators keep, remove, noise, performance ....how big do i want the pipe to be 2.25 or 2.5? it goes in the order of headers, cats, resonators, then mufflers right?
x pipe or no? i definenetly know to get new mufflers that i can figure those and tips its everything in between mufflers and headers i dont understand if i need or how it affects performance

whats the ideal set up to keep my car quiet (albiet some nice throatiness wont hurt) while squeezing the juice out of my plump juicy melon.

again i know i sound pretty dumb but hey.....i love my car and iwant to fall more in love with it everyday

Check summit racing for your mufflers; $220 ea is rediculious! There's actually a formula for pipe size; 2.25" is plenty big enough for the displacement of the engine and HP it produces. Actually, I think if you look at all the specs, the fact that it's dual exhaust... 2.25 might even be a little over-kill. 2.5" really won't do anything for you; Exhaust usually works like this: more flow equals HP in the higher RPM band. More restrictive means torque down low. But you reach a point where going larger really doesn't help. When you're looking at having standard bends which compress, wrinkle and create turbulance; then you might want to think about going with larger pipe size to off-set the bends.

Cats... We only have two and they flow pretty good as it is; don't worry about them.

Here's what I'd do... and it is what I actually will do once my car is running again: Hushpower II resonators with 50 series Delta Flows on the factory pipes. The 50D's are, according to flowmaster, a bit less on the loud side than even the hushpower II's. And I've got the 50D's on my truck; which isn't obnoxiously loud. I figure those, with the resonators should make for a nice, mild, but low note.

Resonators are around $105 in stainless, 50D's around $115 in stainless

You could, buy Borla mufflers too... those are polished... something to think about

so i'd want to get some sort of coupler/expander right after the cats that expands the pipes to 2.25 then have custom piping to the resonators, then to the mufflers and tips? i like higher hp since i drive on the highway mostly. i think the kkm intake helps the throttle response down low enough for me. i like this car to haul ass since it has a lot of ass to haul
i listened to the 50D clip on flowmasters site, its a nice sound but i hope since if itll go on a 3.9 V8 it wont sound that aggresive or choppy.
i could just go to midas for all this since they carry flowmasters, they can fab all this up i assume.....this shouldnt go over $500 altogether i hope

what about x pipes? would those elimnate the resonators, would those sound louder or quieter...better,worse idea?

X-pipes improve HP and torque... and are virtually a manditory requirement these days for a performance exhaust. You can also use an H-pipe... doesn't have the the same potential for power, but it sounds better. The factory pipes on the LS I THINK are 2.25". Perhaps someone can correct me if I'm wrong. But on that note, even if they are 2", I believe that flowmaster makes their mufflers down to a 2". I would order the mufflers and tips from summit, take it all in and have it put on. The mark-up from a muffler shop will be kind of high. You can order X-pipe sections and have that installed, or just have them run a pipe connecting the two sides (H-pipe). You can do that with or without resonators. The resonators will help make the exhaust note a bit more mild. Or you could just have the mufflers put on and keep the factory resonators. I'd go that route first, see how you like the sound, then go from there.

so in all ill have stock cats running to an x-pipe to resonators to mufflers/tips
2-2.25 with hush II resonators and 50Delta muffler and maybe 3.5 or 4' tips? that is how it would go right? sound good??? anyone else have any other ides? so far i like this...it sounds like it'll have a nice flowmaster sound during throttle but not too loud or droning and maybe add some performance down low and high

and midas can do all this? or a local shop? ill supply the x,reses, mufflers, tips and they can do the tubing in between and welds.... equipment alone is running around $500 on summit right now

Dude those mufflers are cheap as hell, they cost around 80-90 bucks each.

Dont get the deltas thats something I dont think from what "you" are saying its what you want. Not that it sounds like a bad idea, just get the hush power2 mufflers with the rest of the work suggested.

The 50D's are, according to flowmaster, a bit less on the loud side than even the hushpower II's. And I've got the 50D's on my truck;

They told me the opposit....... The guy siad he has em on his Cady to and they sound very nice. I know they sound nice on a LS.

my mistake, hushpowers are aroung $120 (not on flowmaster website)and 50D's are like $90 all on summit. Flowmaster website says the 50D's are quieter but from the sound clip it doesn't seem like it. thanks for the help. I just got my 9005 6000K HID's for the LS' fogs so I'm happy. Mclaren grille and painted rear surround or exhaust are next.

Do the exhaust next.....You dont need the flashy Hush powers just the simple Hushpowers so the price will be cheaper if you get the basics.

yeah ill try, it wont be for a little bit. ill probably order everything soon but wont get around to gettting it on. id like to put give it a shot putting it on myself since i can always take it to a shop if i screw up. thanks for all the help ill go with the hushpowers then

FYI, I contacted Midas in November about installing my Magnaflow and they said no, and that was just a simple swap no welding, bending, etc.

installing what magnaflow? i have an 03 there are no pre fabbed kits for this year and up right?
