I want to know what are the biggest rims that people are putting on the Mark 8's. Right now I am in the middle of getting a thunderbird or a Mark 8 and Im liking the mark 8 more and more every time I see one but dont know what they have for mods.

Anything over 18 will hinder performance (decrease torque) and decrease fuel economy. But generally those with rims over 18 dont care about that, its all bout the looks - right? LOL :)

Actually my 18x9.5s on my Mark weight the same as my 20x8.5s on my LS so it isn't so much size as mass that takes the HP.

Diameter 20s have been done alot I don't know about any bigger. As far as width I have 18x9.5s all around and your not going any wider. With a 20 you would need to be narrower.

Most, (Not All) Marks with rims over 18" look like they're sporting wagon wheels. You have to be very selective if going to the 'dub' sizes.:)

"....so it isn't so much size as mass that takes the HP."

Its not so much weight, its the location of the weight at the outer wheel. In essence, the further out the weight, the more torque it take to turn that weight at the same efficiency/speed. Think of it this way, off the hub a 100 pound rim at 8 inches will be easier to spin than a 50 pound, 40 inch rim. Its called spinning mass.

Just saying :) Not that we are talking dramatic numbers here anyway. But if you drive a lot, travel a lot, and race a lot it may be best to keep then at 18 or under....

Where is Frogman at??? He will clear it up for you, First of all they are not rims unless you are talking about the lip of the wheel! They are called wheels. I'm sure I will get some feedback from him now due to my spelling:p

I have 18's on my mark, I personaly wouldn't go any bigger than 20's. I think it looks kinda UGLY on a mark VIII if you go with 22". YUCK!!!

I actually thought 20's would look odd but because my rimz  don't have as much chrome on them as other they look good. I'll take a pic when I put them back on for the summer.

I know exactly what your saying. But a 9.5" rim with 18" diameter could be heavier at that outer point than a narrower 20". We're getting really technical now.

My Mark seemed to FEEL the power loss more than my LS.

Just saying its possible a lighter bigger rim will have less effect than a heavy man hole cover type smaller wheel.

I agree. But what brought up this little debate was "ctually my 18x9.5s on my Mark weight the same" hehe.... so what i was getting at, was that at the same weight, a bigger wheel will steal torque.

Anyway.... I think we can drop this one. LOL

Over 20 looks ugly, think stilts, you can even lower the car with those
20" is subjective
18" seems to be the preferred size

:)

I have seen 23's on a Mark... Very "Donk"

If you rode with the Air Ride pumped all the way up you would be able to get 24's I think... but WHY????

That looks retarded... A tasteful 20's will suit it alot better...

18's are nice to...;)

rollin on 19's :)

Rolling on 20's in the summer and stock in the winter.

In my part of Wyoming that equates to 4 months and 8 months respectively.
