14.423@97.78mph

Someone said that rear end on these is made by Jaguar, is that correct?
Im almost bound and determined to find a LS diff that will work in these, I asked here once already and everyone pretty much said they dont exist.
If Jaguar made these, I know Jag makes alot of LS units for their performance cars, Id like to try and cross reference the rear end on the ls and see which cars Jag used them on. And see if they ever made any LS setups that will fit it.

(btw LS in caps = Limited Slip) :shifty:

I think a 3.7* or 3.8* LS rear would work nicely with even a stock PCM tune and still provide decent mileage on the highway.

Already looked at the S-type rear gears and they have 3.07, 3.31, 3.58 also and oddly the supercharged models have 2.79, I thought that might be the one.

If you find something share it, many would do this. I think the 8" would fall on a 3.80 as the older 8" Frod rear does. I'd do it.

LSD...Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds...it was a joke.

The gear ratios can be changed by swaping the ring and pinion, im not worried so much about the ratio as I am about finding a limited slip carrier.
Ill poke around some Jag forums over the next few days and see what I can dig up.

No one makes gear to work with our diffs, so the existing factory gear ratios are what we are limited to. Changing the whole diff would be easier than swapping in the gears as you can probably find one in your gear choice used for less than buying the gears alone and installing.

I'm pretty sure the Jag diffs have been checked into by a few and not are traction locks. I know Quik was working on putting a traction lock into a existing LS unit but not sure how its coming.

On cool nights like tonite I'm slipping almost all of 1st gear...sometimes I stick after initial wheel spin but when I get up into the good rpms she starts whistling 4-6500 right into the 1-2 shift.

Hit a couple 14.5s anyway but not going to beat the best without better track conditions.

If I up to the 3.58s this may make it worse...but it only is when the track is cool at night. Have to go when the suns out I guess.

Stockers. Michelin whatever the stock sports are.

I've had this a few times when its colder out since my new tune.

The day I hit the 14.423 it was sunny and traction was only a issue at the launch.

Try a stickier tire. Michelins seem to be made more for longevity than grip, at least in my experience with them. I got a cheap set of Cooper Lifeliners on mine and they don't hold for shift. Im probably gonna get a set of Continentals when these are shot.
For something really sticky, I've heard Toyo and Kumho are some of the best. But, I dont trust Kumhos on my cars.

I'm considering a track only tire. If put on the right rim I'll be able to use it for my LS and my MarkVIII. I have 20s for the summer daily thing...going on soon.

Hey, nice times! this is my first post on here and im from LLSoc. I live about 45 min from GLD. I have taken the LS there three times.

I have an 01 with Magnaflow catback, LSk intake (routed to stock airbox w/ KN + ram air) and SCT XCAL2. The best tiem in mine was a 14.7 @95. Your times are amazing!!! Id love to get my LS to hit those time.

My LS is dyno tuned, so I wonder if it is the shift points I have set. Id love to meet up sometime at GLD to see if I can hit those times. im going some time in may.

congrats again, thats amazing

I've also been thinking about the 3.58 swap. I have checked a few yards and come up wiht nothing. ALso on greeleafauto.com they have a lot of diffs but want way to much for them. Swapping the entire diff would be a lot easier than paying for the ring and pinion you can get off line(around 260) then having payed to get installed.

I had the 3.58 gear in my 02 LS out of a 04 T-Bird, did the swap for about $150 for the whole diff. It made a nice difference throughout the whole RPM range. I would definitely recommend you guys doing that on the 00-02's.

you got the whole diff to go right in? Some were talking of some things not lining up. Where did you get the diff? If I coudl do it for 150 I would do it now!!

Devilsh, I sent you a PM on where to get the 3.58 diff.

I got the 3.58 diff into my 02 LS w/o any modifying.

Ive been going alot I think 6 times already this year. Went last night before they closed cause of some drizzle. Track was slick even dry. Only caught 1 2.1 60' when I got there then downhill from there with the traction. Still hit 2 14.5s one with a double shift should have been a 14.4, a 14.6 and a double shifted hot lapped 14.7 Don't know why its shifting like that hope it goes away.

I want to go some more yet. A 2.09 60' with a low 14.3 is the goal then I'll do the 3.58s. Then I'll be looking for a 14.1. Toying with some lighter sticky rears.

Anyways I'll let you know when I go next or watch here.

I post there when I am planning something but often go on somewhat of a last minute thing or maybe I plan a day ahead.

when i had my 14.7 i had a 2.2 60'

I had a 2.1 earlier that day, but ran a 14.8 (probably screwed up the shift somehwre else down the line)

Most of the day I kept it in D4 or D5. but I usually shift right around 6, after that i feel like there is no power.

I'm shifting at 6500, well I command it at about 6000-6100 and it shifts at 6500. I've hit low 2.1s quite a few times and high 2.1s alot those have most of my best times. Before the Xcal2 I had to hit the 2.1s to hit the 14.5s and 14.6s now I hit them even with 2.2s and even have a 14.6 pass with a 2.342 60'. Needless to say the Xcal2 brought some power.

I'd say yours will run faster with some more passes.

Well hopefully I can meet you up there some time. I just got a dyno tune on the xcal and the new intake set up w/ the airbox brought me a lot of torque, upwards of 245 @ the wheels.

ANd about ten minutes ago I just bught a 2003 diff w/ 3.58. Will go to pick it up tomorrow.

Oh and how do you launch? in SST or do you start in it luanch then swithc it over once your rolling...HOw high do you rev etc..

The 3.58 in Waukesha? I called and they said someone named Deven just called about it, at that time you hadn't bought it. They didn't know the miles so I wanted to check around a little or I would have grabbed it. Thats like 5 minutes from my work.

I used to launch in D5 and once my foot was to the floor I'd move over to the SST and Manual shift it. Now with the XCal2 I have SST1 fixed and I use the SST for the whole ride. Very lite brake rev 1000-1200...when I put it down I try not to mash it as hard as can and more of a dropping my foot to the floor kinda thing. Seems to get the best 60. Harder brake launching didn't ever turn good 60s for me.

Looks like I beat you to it, sorry about that. That was the cheapest one that was closest to me. Devin* no bigge haha.

Who tuned your Xcal to have it start in 1st? I thought it wasn't possible... ANd i was curious if you hit 4th or help it in third, although once the 3.58 is in i think i may have no choice but to hit fourth

Torrie from Fast Parts did my tune. The SST1 fix worked for many people from what I've seen on here but he isn't sure if it will fix all. He sent me a test tune, it worked, then he sent me a new tune with it included.

I've dumped it into 4th a few times and while I don't think it killed the time much at all, all my good times I held it. Pass the line at about 6500-6600 and shift it right when I know I'm clear.

I've ran my friends 05 w/3:58s, he holds out third as did I the few times I ran it. Can't remember exactly but I think its close to 7k but definately not 7k at the trap. Thats why while I want to do the 3:58 for all the obvious reasons, I'm not sure how much gearing it really is based on that, we have the same size tires.

His best is 14.290 with just a self made intake and a Xcal2. Hes ran 13.3 with a 100shot.

Anyways I have alot of timeslips me against his from before my tune. I can compare my cars power to his now that I'm tuned and my 98mph best traps match his, however he has 78mph 1/8th mile mphs several times where I'm at 96.75 for my best...many mid 96.

Based on this the 3:58 is likely why he hits quicker mphs faster. I expect my car to do the same.

Interesting thing is I have several times with my fastest slips where I made 22mph between the 1/8 to the 1/4, his is 20mph for his bests...I not sure if I'm actually making more power but slower because off the slower gears...or will my car pick up more line to the 1/8th and loose 1/8th to 1/4 speed. If I'm making more power than I guess I'll be looking at 14.2 at worse with the change.

Its cool you grabbed the diff. I'll find one.

Got the diff yesterday, will be going in around May 13th(not that anyone really cares)

Torrie sent me a 1st gear tune and it works. Its soooo nice not having to florr it really quick to get it to pop into first. I now can just switch it over and BOOM! 1st gear baby! GOt a real loud chirp into second gear today, I cannot wait till the 3.58 gets in.

Cool. Its alot easier to drag it that way...and the SST in general seems alot more functional as not having 1st seemed pretty stupid.

I'm looking forward to your imput on the 358 swap, so I care.

Also when we hitting GLD??

well some friends and I are going i think on the 25th or 26th(as long as the diff is in by then :) )

If not I no I am planning on going sometime in June with some LLSOC members, but you and I are very close I can go whenver, I want to hit low 14's soo bad and your gonna help me! haha
