Does the seat bottom get hot/cold a LOT faster than the seat back, or do I have something wrong? I mean my butt will have icicles by the time the seat back starts blowing a little cool air out. :D

Maybe the seat bottom works faster, not sure. The seat back could have a problem with the hose that ducts the air up from under the seat.

My seat back broke off once so I got a good look at this. BTW, borken seat backs are somewhat common and usually under warranty.

From under the seat there is a rectangular section of duct work that goes to the bottom of the seat back. From there it goes into a kind of corrugated hose, looks a bit like vacuum cleaner hose. This hose goes up about 2/3s of the way and just is left open. The air blows out of that and into the cavity created by the seat back and the seat. I assume the air pressure forces the air thru the tiny holes in the seat.

You might check to see if anyones feet knocked the ducting loose. Or worse, maybe your seat back is not fitted tightly to the seat and is leaking air?

Good Luck,

Jim Henderson

On my 2003 car, the seat bottom and seat back cooled and heated at about the same rate. On my 2006 car, the back and bottom heat at the same rate, but when cooling, the seat bottom is a bit cooler than the back.

Now that i had to think about it i think the bottom does cool faster that the back. But i cant say i have ever felt icicle cold. I think i am just too damn heavy and the air has nowhere to come out. The a/c seats keep me from getting hot more than it actually cools me if that makes sense. Nonetheless a feature i wouldnt want to NOT have. They're great.

I feel it in the seat long before the back. I don't think it really cools quicker, I just think it's because you've got more pressure on the seat. If you're not sitting in the seat, and just run your hand over the seat and back both seem to cool at the same rate.

I think you're right, it does feel about the same if nobody's sitting in it and you run your hand over the seat and back.
(and if somebody IS sitting in it when you run your hand over it, that's a different story :D)
