i just bought a 2001 LS and I was wondering how to take the factory radio out? It looks like the vents come out first but i dont want to start pulling on things incase I break something? Any help would be great. Thanks

Take the top vents out first, then work on the lower ashtray portion and you should see the screws that hold it in place once those are removed. They are small snap-like objects that hold them in place, so don't be scared to use a little force because you will probably have to.

Yea, the vents, then the trim around the ashtray, then the ashtray harness thing has two bolts I believe are 8mm....you will need to remove this in order to see the bottom two bolts holding the stereo in, in addition to the two upper bolts.

I don't know how much car audio you've done but this has been the easiest car I've ever had to work with when it came to stereo installation/removal.

I ve done a few of my cars, but Im always a lil nervous when I dont know what how it comes off and I dont want to snap anything. I got the vents off, what is the best part to grab the ashtray from? Just pry the bottom part up and out???

I finally got the thing apart. I dont know what kind of cars you've been working on but that was probably one of the hardest I've ever done. Ive done a Fusion, FiveHundred, F150, Sporttrac, Jeep TJ, Focus, Diplomat, Toyota MR2, Dynasty, Intrepid, Cavalier, Sunfire, and an Impala and ONLY the impala was harder than this one since the whole dash has to be taken apart. You must be working on some exotic cars!

I think that the LS is one of the easiest Ive done too. Ive done tons of them my S10 you had to pull the entire dash trim out to get to the radio that was always fun,

Hell I installed a radio in the LS while my buddy was driving us to Gainsville.

But glad to see you go it
