Realizing that this unit won't be out for a few more weeks, I figure it's not a bad idea to get started planning. :cool: Thanks to one of the other posters here (cant' recall the name..but he has the NICE silver LSE) for pointing me to Ducatiboy's forum..GREAT info there.

Anyone else contemplating this unit? My plan is to obtain the unit, the XM Navtraffic module GEX-P10XMT, and the bluetooth module. I'd like to perform the install myself, so I assume I will need the 03'+ Nav faceplate, as well as a wiring harness adapter from Crutchfield?

The Nav module looks fairly large. Not sure where this will be mounted, but Im assuming somewhere behind the dash?

i am waiting on it to come out as well. I saw it on youtube and i thought that all those parts come with it the nav, the bluetooth except the XM radio for the 1,000.00 its suppose to go for.

Nope...the NavTraffic module is roughly $150 or so extra. The D3 does come standard with some bluetooth capabilities built in (ex: it will accept streaming mp3 music coming from a m3 player that can stream via bluetooth), but it's my understanding that it will require an additional bluetooth related adapter if you want to synch up your bluetooth enabled phone/use your phone with the D3.
 
Looks like the D3 is finally available.

Anyone install one in the LS yet?
 
I am leaning away from the D-series and from pioneer in general.

My N1 lasted me about a year and a half before it fried itself.

My D1 is on it's third DVD drive right now... And it looks like it will need another one soon. I am seriously considering a carputer.

I just bought one this Friday. I should have it installed this coming week when it arrives along with the 03+ Nav face plate for the car. Ill post pics when finished.
 
Id like to hear more about this - I may be getting a TC and need to get another stereo - so this one might be my choice.

Nice price, but I think Crutchfield has them for around that same price with their current promtions. There are also $20 off promition codes for Crutchfield on avic411.com. And allegedly the ebay sellers aren't licensed dealers, so no warranty. Crutchfield has full warranty.

Anyways, Are you going to get the BlueTooth accessory? avic411.com reports a new version of the BlueTooth will be out in a month or so. Supposedly its MUCH better than the current version.

Crutchfield is $200 more and they are out of stock with an uncertain date. Im not worried about the warranty. I have ways around that hurdle.

Im not into the bluetooth thing, so I wont be looking at that anytime soon. I will let you know how this thing goes.
 
from what I read so far, it will preload your NAV with directions into its memory and then you can put in a regular CD or DVD while you drive. I dont mind, I will use the NAV like once a year anyway. I want it for the DVD playback to have live concerts coming through my system in 5.1 sound.

The D3 also plays DIVX movies too which is cool.
 
Yes, it does load up some Nav data LIKE THE N SERIES. You prolly missed that part. It's ok though.

Now, don't expect a whole state or even a whole city to be pre-loaded into memory. I don't know what the D3's run for memory, but the N1's had 64megs for nav memory. Barely enough to hold detailed info for 5 square miles in a big city.

That kinda sucks, Reading Pioneers site, it says it loads Nav data for a whole route. Its not very specific. A route can be to the end of the block, hehe
 
any update news?? im interested in this peice now but it does look a bit long...do u have to edit the 03+ nav faceplate for the 00-02s does anyone know??
 
I'm looking at getting a nav system too. My garmin handheld is great but that dang wire hanging from the windshield looks like crap.

Any update 02V8Sport?

Not yet. The lat piece Im waiting for is the NAV radio bezel from Bill at Team Ford, he said he will have them by this Wednesday. Once that is in I will begin the install.

My D3 just arrived today. NAV plate will be in later today from Team Ford.

I already have the car wiring harness, IPOD cable and Steering wheel control unit. I should hopefully have this installed this Sunday if all goes ok. Will have pics up too once completed.
 
Thanks for the update, and pioneering (pardon the pun) this effort for the LS.
