After giving my Vin# and being told that great tunes were available for my LS8, I decided to order the Xcal2 from Torrie. I received the device and 3 tunes through the mail quickly. When I loaded the first performance tune, my car was knocking so bad that it sounded similar to a diesel while in the driveway! I thought a "mail order" tune would be rather conservative for safety reasons and that it would be modified for my actual engine, but apparently this “conservative approach” was not the case for whatever reason.
I sent Torrie an email and he promptly replied with a new tune on FRIDAY EVENING, which did not audibly knock! His reply to my concern was extremely fast!!! (within a few hours!!!)
The revised tune did not have the various tweaks that we discussed in email before I purchased the XCAL2 such as shift points, shift firmness, torque converter lockup, etc... and I was unable to test if the original tunes had these tweaks because of the knock. I am not sure if I can feel more power with the revised tune either. For these reasons, I am thinking I received a generic, "stock-ish" LS tune and I am still working with him to get everything corrected.
There are quite a few buyers that are satisfied with his tunes and customer service, and I am sure I will be as well, once my car is properly tuned. So at this point, I cannot say whether I would recommend the XCal2 or not. I've only had the XCAL2 for 3 days (including 1 business day), and I will keep you updated on how everything goes.
