Ford Interceptor Concept

yeah its going to be sweet, I have been reading about that and the new challenger.

Yeah, the 427 was in '02 or '03, I think. The difference between the 300 and the Interceptor is that the Interceptor nailed the styling; the 300 just looks freakin' goofy (IMHO).

Well said SoonerLS. I never liked the 300. The Charger is decent but not the 300.
What I don't get is why everybody (not just here) keeps saying Ford needs to get more mileage out of the MUSTANG platform. Hmm.. take the Mustang platform, put a four door body on it and an IRS underneath. Sounds to me like a revised LS platform.
Speaking of which, as much as I like the Interceptor and 427 concepts, The MKR concept is Smoking hot sexy! (hate the name though) and fairly close to being production ready.

Dawm that thing sounds mean. According to the guy at the local Lincoln dealer ford is planning some sort of production for both the MKR and the Interceptor. Although I know from past experience that if they do that the drivetrain will be dummied down because of emissions and such. But If they start with a good platform and bring in the aftermarket then we should be set with something that will take off. And I agree with what was said in the video. Ford has been making to many boring conservative cars. They need to start making some cars that make people do a double take and get people excited.

Wait a minute. The 05 and up mustang chassis is already a now teched LS platform. It was started on the ls/tbird platform then cheaped to meet market-value-points.

Yes. Like just last night, I saw a Porsche Carrera GT. It was very new too. Definately made me take a double take on it.

Has anyone seen the challenger? Now that is going to be sweet.

No, it's not. It was supposed to be, but they decided that the effort of adapting DEW-98 was not as cost-effective as building a new chassis. The only major component they took from DEW-98 was part of the floorpan (I think there's one other component, maybe the firewall). The Mustang rides on a unique platform.

I thought that was what I posted. FMC started the new mustang chassis based on the LS and tbird floorpan and then Low tech'd and cheap'd it down to make the new mustang. It's not the same as before where the Fairmont and mustang drivetrains started out identical, but it is similar.
Or more to my point, I hope that the next ford RWD sedan uses something that is much closer to the dew98 with it's SLA front suspension and IRS rear than the mustang floor pan.

yeah 08 is going to have some nice cars come out

09 is also looking good

My bad, I guess I thought the Mustang was closer to the DEW98 platform with struts/live axle and once an IRS was installed it would again be closer to the LS with a strut setup up front.
So besides the obvious strut, live axle, and wheelbase, what other differences are there?
