When changing my valve cover gaskets and fuel injectors it looks like a vacuum line of some sort got broken and I can't find the other half of it either. Does anyone know what this line is and what it goes to?
Thanks man You rock that is where it was. The hose is completely gone lolI don't know too much about the 1st gen, so just guessing...
Did it break off of the fuel pressure sensor? It looks like the fuel pressure sensor is nearby.
yep fuel pressure sensorThanks man You rock that is where it was. The hose is completely gone lol
What would you recommend for where to start looking ? I have to admit I am a bit confused. I have seen before pending codes for p0420 but now that is gone and only seeing these two codes. So would the best place to check first be the power to bank 1 upstream? And replace the sensor if voltage is correct at the harness ? I will note that the car idle is a bit rough and when you get around 40-45mph the acceleration is kinda crappy. It's hard to say, but always correct the known problems before looking too hard for other possibilities.
If there was a vacuum leak your short and long term trims would be pegged at the max +20. The spec is +/-10. You could run your car on idle and see what your fuel readings are ...MAF, fuel pressure, and vacuum leak these are all the culprits usuallyWhat would you recommend for where to start looking ? Is that the same issue relating to misfires and not because the wires were smashed? It was 2 fuel injectors they were unplugged. But my p0420 code came back so I think I may have to end up replacing the bank 1 Catalytic Converter.

I guess I should reroute that question ...that may be a bit confusing to understand ...When you had your Valve Cover Gaskets replaced, you said the COP harness was jammed into the Valve Cover ...you then said you seem to be having misfires because you believe the wires were smashed? Was the misfires due to the smashed wires or the fuel injectors being unplugged? It was 2 fuel injectors they were unplugged. It was because of both. I spliced in the harness before I noticed the injectors were unplugged. And even with the injectors unplugged after fixing the wires it ran a lot better. It was literally jumping around before very bad when the wires were damaged.I guess I should reroute that question ...that may be a bit confusing to understand ...When you had your Valve Cover Gaskets replaced, you said the COP harness was jammed into the Valve Cover ...you then said you seem to be having misfires because you believe the wires were smashed? Okie DokkieIt was because of both.
The P-0420 code had been coming back for a while now, I had that code when I had the rich codes. I have been actively watching my car as I have been driving and the cat code comes back fast now. I can clear it and it's back within 10-15 miles now so I will assume the bad injectors I had before damaged the cat. The Rich code has never came back since I replaced the injectors so if I have to replace the cat I now feel safe to do so.So now your car is back running ...bandaids are working for now I would assume? Before you get to worked up with the P0420 ...I personally would erase the code and see if it returns ...I assume ( Not that I like to when it comes to cars, but some mechanics do it all the time ) that if it comes back once more it would be something you better check out...but with all the different work you’ve been doing to the car it could be reacting to unplugged Injectors ...Gaskets ...fuel pressure sensor and COP’s and spark plugs being unplugged and replaced
Yes you could be right...any good shop willing test them before replacing them anyway...may as well be sure ...I guess I had no idea the code was so consistentThe P-0420 code had been coming back for a while now, I had that code when I had the rich codes. Gonna have them test the best they can, I will even pay them to cut it out and reinstall it if not actually bad once it's out. The one reputable place in town will install a decent aftermarket one for $280.Yes you could be right...any good shop willing test them before replacing them anyway...may as well be sure ...I guess I had no idea the code was so consistent
Strange that it wasn't throwing any misfire codes. It was 2 fuel injectors they were unplugged. But my p0420 code came back so I think I may have to end up replacing the bank 1 Catalytic Converter.
Yeah it really is cause the only time I got misfire codes was when the wires were chewed up. I would have expected misfire codes on top of the other two considering that two injectors had no power lolStrange that it wasn't throwing any misfire codes.
