Hi I have a 03 Lincoln LS8 and the trim around my windows has been blacked out from factory. I was looking at it a bit closer and realized it was just rubber stuck on to my chrome trim. What I really want to know is can I get the rubber off without damaging the chrome underneath?

Just went out and pried at mine with a knife.
seems to be a rubber insert not just a cover :(

I definitely have chrome under mine. 1433204202086.jpg

I also looked at another ls with the chrome trim you can definitely tell it's a cover

That reminds me... we have this Gen 2 in for service. It has chrome trim. I've been meaning to ask about it. Factory? Door swap? Trim swap?

Yeah that's Def factory. I wonder if there is a way if can swap out just the trim if the chrome with the cover can't be salvaged

now while I dont know for sure... there is very little differences in the bodies between the generations, I would expect that 1st gen trim would easily swap

I would also imagine that it wouldn't be that hard to either find a 1st gen owner that would be more that willing to get rid of his chrome and would be down to swap or find one of the many 1st gens sitting in a junk yard some where to get the parts from.

Yeah it was a Gen 1 I was comparing it too. Maybe I'll go to scrapyard this weekend and try taking the trim off a mucked up door

Loud, that's what iI was just thinking: I'll trade my chrome to save me the trouble.of taping it over with vinyl striping

lol, I would still take the ten mins to cover that ugly stuff in case you don't find someone that wants to trade!!!
