I have a 05 3.9l Sport and I had a overheating issue about 5 months ago. I replaced the thermostat, housing and most of the plastic parts. The system is properly blead and leak free. Now when the car is driven the fan comes on and runs at high all of the time. The temp gauge doesn't move at all, but the fan stays on high all of the time. If I turn the heat on, usually for less than 2 min, the fan goes off and then operates normally. I am completely stumped and any help would be appreciated.

The engine is still running hotter than it should. The temperature gauge does not actually represent the coolant temperature; it goes horizontal upon "normal" operating temperature and only spikes when it "overheats" per whatever conditions the computer has. If it stops when you run the heat, it is possible that it still needs bled again. Make sure you follow the bleeding procedure exactly.

This, exactly.

even if you follow those directions, you may need to do it more than once...

also check to make sure that your radiator is not blocked at all by leaves and other trash.

I found part of a bird under there, which prompted me to pull the entire plastic pan off and clean it all out. Definitely solid advice!
