I'm 99.9% sure it is, but Joe will know for sure.

your not trying to disable it are you?

fair warning: the last person on here that tried to remove the chime speaker totally F'ed his cluster. it was not a cheap repair

yes, its been a couple of years. but basically, somebody wanted to disable the chime, found it and removed the speaker from the cluster, somehow damaged the board and fried the cluster. ended up having to get the car towed to the dealer, and had to get and have programmed a new cluster (the cluster may have been bought used online)

prob didn't disconnect the voltage to it before applying a solder iron.
don't see why one couldn't safely de-solder a pin or two on a board without Fn it up.

not possible to tweak it in a tune ? ON/OFF parameters ?

I think he may have had the power disconnected, but I don't think there was any soldering involved. If I remember right, he just jabbed a screwdriver in through the slot and destroyed the speaker/beeper (and apparently some more stuff).

Butcher style ... I see ... yeah, garbage in, garbage out.

Well that worked well

I'll be getting into it for another reason soon (a cool simple mod) so I'll take another look...thanks

my biggest concern is IIRC there can be a tamper detection of some sort that will disable the cluster... I'd hate to have that problem if i'm just messing with bulbs
