Okay I'm stumped on a few of these problems! My 1993 mark viii is killing gas, like straight murdering it,has anyone had any issues like this? i can put gas in for example, i put it to a half of tank an literally not even 15 miles later it was off half a tank and almost to a quarter tank.. wasn't driving like an idiot either.

Second problem - My front airbags have dropped.. i have put it on a lift check the airbags for leaks and they weren't leaking, since they have dropped i have got them to kinda air up once. could a line be busted? valves stuck? could be an easy fix just not sure what to look for. This is my third mark viii but both my others had coil conversions...

If anyone can help me with these problems it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

In my red car the air ride drops every night. Start car and it pumps up no problems and stays up all day. Your problem is affecting both sides and you say it pumps up once, shows air ride compressor.

see thats just it, i can get the compressor to kick on from time to time but even then they will not air up when it does kick on. it just pumps the rear back up fully...

ANY and EVERY time front is down compressor should come on. Your problem of BOTH not pumping up at same time seems weird. Did both lines get cut at same time? odds no ,do both soloniods stop working at same time. odds no, did both bags get cut at came time odds no. That's why i mentioned compressor.

Very true. alright so im guessing the compressor could be bad now.. is there any modules that control the compressor that could have gone bad? i had someone say that if a code is present for the air ride like " Check air ride suspension " that the compressor wont turn on, is this true? or were they just a idiot? Lol.

The compressor uses a big relay its the same as the ABS relay. Its in front end of car under bumper. These go alot. You can swap them and see what happens. Oh also would both front height sensors go bad at same time odds no. Does the pump come on right after you start car?

Alright i'll check the fuse tomorrow at work when i have a rack. And no the pump comes on from time to time when it wants too.. it hadnt came on in the past two days, but today when i started the car is came on for about a minute and the front end didn't even move a inch, when i turn the car off and back off it wouldn't come back on.

It should have pumped up in that min for sure as pump was running. It might have timed out after that. The relays are that not fuses. Its the size of half pack of cigs and is finned alum and plastic. Start car listen for pump if its running then listen for soloniod's to click(turn on) in front of car. You should hear all of that. All that stuff is loud enough to hear no problem.

Okay, I'll listen for that stuff tomorrow. If i'm not hearing the clicking, i'm guessing those relays could be bad right? Ever heard of the stock transmissions in these shifting at 7k rpm when you nail it from a dig?

B musgraves, I live about 15 minutes from you (off Kellog Creek Rd); I'm not nearly as experienced as most of the guys on here, but I did my first coil conversion a little while back. If/when you get ready to do it I'll help you with it. Bad gas mpg? stuck IMRC's?

That road sounds familiar, Jasper area? and yea i could definitely use the help man! i've never done a coil over conversion. i'm familiar with the cars but not too knowledgable about some of the parts, what is the IMRC's?

The bad mileage as you call it what does it look like when you completely fill it? Does it drop a quarter tank just as fast? On my 06 f150 from half to quarter tank it'll go down in about 20 miles. If that car seen 1/4 to 1/2 tank all it's life the float is a resistor and over time the magnetic strip will rub off and read the next available reading on the gauge.

Have you checked to see if its got a chip in it? My red car bangs all shifts @7000 but its not stock. Also how long have you had the car. Did air ride work fine like last week?

Being a 93, I'm betting it's a bad pump. And they are a bit tricky to change, but doable. I did mine in my garage. I believe it's American air suspension is the name of the place to get a replacement pump. so quiet you cant hear it, and I believe a 2 year warranty. Best in the business.
If you do change it, theres a round air scoop type thing has part of the air intake system, that has to come out, and it's not easy to get it out, but after you do, and start the reasssmbly, leave it out. You'll never get it back in, and it's not needed. He'll tell you that when you buy the pump. Good luck, and let us know how you resolved the problem.

if one front air bag is leaking, the front will go down. the car has sway bars. they don't lean or anything, even when just one bag goes flat.

early 93s shifted pretty high. not quite 7k, but up there. your tach may also be off. 90s ford tachs suck.

next to Lake Allatoona, just west of Bells Ferry Rd and north of 92
---
intake manifold runner controls (IMRC's) open the extra valves through a housing between the intake and the head at about 3200 rpm's; 2V to 4V; if you're using 4V all the time it will affect the MPG

I'm not saying you SHOULD do a conversion, but I have on both my Marks. I liked the air, but there's other places I prefer to put my time/money
