Well here's my story.
by the way, I'm new around here.
So when i got married back in '05, my wife and I bought a 2001 pearl white LS8. We loved the car. It had a few little problems, (broken driver's door handle, window reg., tranny slipped a little) but it was our baby. Then, we had an actual baby and needed a bigger vehicle so we traded her off and wept for days. (over the loss of our car, not the arrival of our amazing son.)
I have been a deputy sheriff for 9 years, and I have announced that I'm running for sheriff and so I was on the lookout for a presentable car with decent mileage for campaigning in (and by decent I mean better than 14 mpg that my Sequoia gets or the 14 gallons per mile my Bronco gets). Behold, another 2001 LS8 in silver becomes available and I immediately get antsy wanting it.
The dude was asking 5K, I talk him down to 2500$ because the door handle is broken, oil fill neck is broken, broken console, two flat tires, and a bad miss in the motor. Cosmetically, he added the stupid fake fender vents, it has a small hole in the driver's seat, and the center vents are broken. So far, I've fixed the vents, tires and console for a total of 41$ and my mechanic rocks and saved me a bundle on labor replacing my oil fill neck and coils/plugs. I am hoping to have less than $3000 in the car when I get it back. I just want to say thanks so much for all the advice you guys have so graciously posted on here and I've been scouring this site for two weeks learning. I won't be doing many cosmetic or performance mods like a lot of you, but I'm just so happy to have my LS back in my driveway!
