P0401

So I have a p0401 code and I know it's egr related.

My question is, is there any goo way to tell if it I the valve or the solenoid, is there any way to test these to find out?

First off check for a vacuum leak. The plastic had lines get brittle and crack. I leaned on the vacuum harness and cracked a couple of these lines inside the plastic loom and had to follow the lines to find the failure. Here is my repair....

When I was driving contours, that code popped up quite frequently, 99% of the time it was related to carbon buildup in the passage ways of the intake. I do not know what the LS's passage ways are like but I would check there first.
