Race day tomorrow! The car is all suited up and ready to go. Slicks are in the trunk and I have completed my checklist. Praying for no breakage! Stay tuned to this thread for some killer Gen2 times. How low can the ET go. :D

M and h race masters in front..what tires will b in the back?

When I was at opening Day @ Englishtown some guy in a Charger had space savers on the front driving through the pits to the staging lanes past the track techs.

One called the guy out as he changed the tires after tech inspection. I know you have tires on your rims but I hear people all the time talking about putting space savers on for the track and thinking they wont be noticed?

Here are my timeslips in no particular order:

13.70@101.10
13.625@101.04 (best pass)
13.642@100.82
13.729@100.60
13.646@101.30
13.663@100.97
13.675@101.23
13.687@100.88

The CEL last time I checked was an IAC overspeed error. We found out today that is was an IAT circuit high code. So, I have no idea where the air fuel ratio is on the car now but we found the broken wire and fixed it before I raced so no more CEL. I am fairly certain this was an issue when it was dyno-tuned which is even more alarming in terms of proper air fuel ratio. So basically what I am getting at now is while now dyno tuned, this car will have to go back to the dyno to have the issues addressed and I may even leave it with the tuner for a couple days to street tune the car also. This setup should have been quicker and it wasn't. The mph is also down comparing similar ETs above to what I have ran in the past. The 60' times were also not there. I was running consistent 1.9x short times mostly launching at 2000-2500 rpms. The Konis seemed to perform best on full soft and with about 18 psi in the Hoosiers. I am disappointed but I know the tune is hurting me right now.

Here is a video of my 13.70 pass and you can see for yourself what it is doing. Also, several times it was blipping the limiter into 2nd so that shift point will have to come down along with a variety of other things at this point.

I don't know what else to say. The seat of the pants meter deceived me. :shifty:

At least the car didn't get slower
Nice runs only .034 slower than last years best.

Unfortunately, it did get slower. You gotta remember the car has been lightened up, I have front runner tires now on aluminums(I ran steelies before) and the Hoosiers are a lighter drag radial. Had I not done the wieght tricks, the car would have been running probably 13.8s all day.

Why didn't you run your old tune or did you sell it.

My old tune was on the same chip that is in the car now that was erased and dyno-tuned. While I did make more power with this tune, that goes to show that parameters in the tune are really what matters and not necessarily rwhp numbers. Those are just bragging rights. It can make all the power in the world but if it isn't transferring and utilizing that power correctly with shift schedules etc. it can run slower and my car did just that.

But, on a side note I average almost 19 mpg:D on the way back at 70mph on the freeway at about 2750 rpms and I didn't have a mysterious CEL staring me in the face. The car didn't break and it was as smooth as a whistle on the way to the track and back. This car has had a hard life and withstood the abuse quite well. :)

Guess I'm still safe.

For now. You still have some stiff competition coming from the east coast in a full weight Gen2 with heavy wheels. One thing I can be certain of is that he better not adopt our weight tricks for your sake or it's all over. Back to the drawing boards for me. **** happens. :D

Talk the talk, walk the walk.

That was the nickname for my silver car too, LOL. Those are still really impressive times (despite the issues you mentioned)! I still wanted to see the video anyway.

Sorry to hear you had problems. I was looking forward to some new personal best. It is a challenge to get everything working just right all at the same time.

The time will come. The car has to make more power plain and simple. The tune blips the limiter into 2nd gear, the shift schedule is not right, and I am now questioning the shift points. 7,000 may be a bit too much for my setup. Between underdrive pullies, IMRC deletes, and a re-tune I think I can get there without changing anything else. I have a feeling the AF ratio is now way off in left field somewhere. 280ish rwhp would make this a bit more attainable, theoretically. I've hit a wall.

Before you go back for the tune get a new fuel pump
And possibly bigger injectors I would think you are nearing max duty cycle but I'm no tuner.

Its better to have a smaller inj then larger in N/A. Also if I have not maxed them out he has not.

Just going by your numbers. he's at 260 rwhp that's about 325 crank.
Another 20 at the wheels would put him at 350 crank

Also why us smaller better not trying to be a dick just want to learn more about tuning.
