What do you call the plastic cover part on the entry side of the driver seat ?

The part that wraps around the front left of the seat is broken and I'd like to replace it with another one.

Power seat trim/panel.

If you have the pieces that are broken you can use a 2 part abs plastic epoxy to put it all back together.

You'll need a stubby Phillips screw driver, and a semi long Phillips.

You'll want the stubby for removal of the switch for the lower tilts, the harness is short

There are also 2 plastic push pins (if their not already broken) holding it to the seat frame. Iirc you'll have to slide the panel forwards or backwards once you remove the front and rear phillips heads(Hidden behind little plastic covers) to "unlock" it. If they're broken it'll just pull out.

I epoxied the center push pins to the panel so I have to get a longish needle nose and stick it in between the panel and seat to grasp said pin to remove it. Don't force it off or you'll end up breaking the mounts. Something you might have to do so thought it was worth mentioning.

Its best to remove the seat to mess with it, then you can use 2 flat head screw drivers (or an actual panel tool) try pry those 2 push pins out.. if you flip the seat upside down you'll see where they are

Just remove the plastic covers for the seat bolt heads , slide seat about half way back and remove the 2 forward 13mm rail mount bolts, then all the way forward and remove the rear 18mm mount nut and the 13mm mount nut, lift the bottom back of the seat up and unplug the harness

Many years ago, I was vacuuming the carpet and threw out a small piece of plastic.

I can see now it was the piece that fit around the broken front left mount. Judging by the number of similarly damaged power seat trim panels on Ebay, it appears this is a common weak point.

From what I've seen on Ebay, this trim panel appears too expensive to replace given that I don't need the seat controls that still work. Even the trim panels that are broken in the same area (front left corner) start at $60. The undamaged trim panels are around $150.

At this point, I'm thinking of repairing the area and repainting it as described below:

The common issue with the seat panels breaking is people sitting on them, and then sliding over to the seat. If you've broken off the pillar for the front wrap around section, use a longer screw with a washer on it

Sapperfire,

A while back, I fixed the middle driver seat motor that controls the back and forth motion.

Since I'm going to repaint the driver seat's leather and trim, I didn't put the seat back in.

I'll just add the repair to the task list.

Thanks for the instructions !

FWIW, I've also seen it listed on ebay as a "seat bezel", and Ford's name is a "shield".

Marcus,

That's more like it !

A search for "seat bezel" returned only '93 - '96 years, but I'll keep a look out using this term.

Thanks !

if its a gen 2...good luck finding one....and if you do find one it'll be 200 bucks....mines is broken and I keep riggin it up to keep it on there.
