My real question is can I install a reprograming kit by just dropping the valve body. I'm pretty sure I can install the shift kit like that but not sure about the reprograming kit . Whats your opinion on both. I did by this car for my wife so I need something suitable for her to drive but I'm the type of guy I can't leave anything stock, even my lawnmowers hotrodded.:D

Welcome to LVC, what year LS did you get ? V6 or V8 ?

Any pics of it ?

~ might want to introduce yourself a little first before bombing questions like this on your first post.

Cant say I've really heard of a shift kit for these cars. On the other hand quite a few members on here use Xcal tuners to upload custom tunes for their LSes.

Hi, my name is Adam i just moved to iowa last year from california, I got an 03 v8 I'm not to sure which model though I know its not a sport. All I've done to it so far is some Aic dragon fire coils and e3 plugs and a k&n filter. I bought it in january. I have a problem every once in a while when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd. It takes a while and I want to do a tranny service and while I'm there I'm going to change the silenoid pack and possible shift kit. It has 90, 000 on it and I don't know how the previous owner took care of it. The rest of the car is in awesome shape. I've loved these cars ever since they where new and now I finally got one. I'm workin on some pics.

Thanks were lovin iowa and we absolutly hated cali. I'm not very interested in tuners I want to do as much as I can in that tranny while I have that pan down. Tuner can come later if at all.

How different did it run after putting in the e3 plugs

There is a shiftkit for these cars. I have it in mine. Its a Transgo made for the 5R55 S/W/N transmissions. To the OP, Your 03 LS would be the 'S' trans. It firms up the shifts alot, I love it. While you have the pan off you should go ahead and change the shift solenoid. Those are a known issue with these cars.

Got out just in time, did you? ;)

ALL '03-'06 V8 LSes are sports.

If it's anything like the one I had in my truck, I would go that route if I dug into the trans myself. It's easier to install and reverse if you don't like it if you get an SCT though. Which one is "better" though mechanically I couldn't tell ya.

Hite, did your kit come with three different springs that would change the firmness of the shift. Like soft, firm, and "oh **** I broke it" firm?

so do you always gotta drive it like a 'bat out of hell' or does it settle down and feel ok while 'cruising' too?

By firm
Do you mean you can feel the Tranny shifting like in a manual

Just got the SCT for mine. At WOT you're really feeling the shifts, putsing around town it feels right. Depends on what you like.

You can really feel it at WOT but it feels slightly firmer than normal when just driving regular. Well worth the $60 IMO

What part of Iowa you settle in?

I could have answered his question without knowing his name or year. :shifty:

Just going to post this little guy here.

I'm movin to madrid iowa at the end of this month just bought my first house for half the price of one in cali. The e3 plugs I like. I don't know the last time the plugs were changed, they didnt look bad I put the plugs in first and drove it for a week then did my coils and I noticed more of a difference with the plugs than the dragon fires. I did do a lot of research on the e3s before I bought them they seemed worthy enough for me to by them. The coils I got a decent deal on so I got them to I still have my factory coils just in case but I got about 4000 miles on the plugs and coils, so far so good. Anybody know about the transgo reprogramming kit, cause I'm leanin more towards that than just a shift kit.
