OK, we know Lincoln makes great cars. Let's hear from someone who owned a Gen 2 LS and then bought one of the MK???'s. Except for being 'newer', what do you like about the 'new' Lincolns that you were unhappy with in the LS?

While waiting for a service to be completed, I talked to the salesman who sold me my '05 V8 LS. His opinion was that Lincoln has not built a car since the LS that comes even close to the features and ride of an LS.

I got my LS in 2010 with less than 15K miles and am planning on keeping it for some time. Stock except for a Pioneer navigation system.

The only mk whatever I'd ever plan to own is a 2016 mk-rwd...

I would take a mkx or mkc for winter or a family car, but not as a DD.

In my opinion, he's right. In case you didn't know it, the LS was/is more Jaguar than Lincoln. To my mind the upgrade path from the LS is Jaguar. (The S-type was a sister car to the LS. The XF is probably the closest thing to the LS made today.)

Most of us have not driven any of the newer lincolns. I also own a Mark LT but that is an apples to oranges comparison. The S-Type and XF are the closest to the LS.

Lincoln "made" good cars. I enjoy both the mark viii and LS. And have at times really wanted an old mark vii just cuz the 5.0s are cheap and easy to play with. But the only thing they really "make" anymore are rebadged fords.

I'm holding out hope that the next MKS will be a winner. It may be faint hope, but it's there nonetheless.

It won't because the mks will always be fwd.

There possibly making plans for a rwd coupe or sedan in 2016 based of the mustangs platform. If your holding out that would be the only thing worth waiting on lincoln for. And it's not even a for sure deal yet

It's really true that one of the things I like best about the LS is RWD. I was reminded when I drove a rental Maxima the other day, and got a bunch torque steer.

But since I live in Denver, I would settle for AWD!

A FWD in a car that handles well (yeah, I know, it's relative), looks good, and has a lux interior would git 'er done if it cost a lot less than it's competitors.

The only Lincoln that has EVER appealed to me is the LS... period..

Love Ford, don't care about Lincoln

I'm a Ford fan but the Lincoln brand doesn't appeal to me much. The RWD V8 sedan is the only reason I went with a Lincoln. My next car will not be a Lincoln, more then likely it will be a foreign AWD that's RWD based. I'd like to get a Ford but currently they only have the Mustang and I want 4 doors. Or maybe I won't get a car next, I'd love to get an Ecoboost F150.

Do it.

i test drove the new mkz and it was really nice. and handled very well. the new interiors on the mkz will blow our ls away. the ls looks bland inside we all must admit that especially the instrument cluster it looks cheap for a lux car so the new interiors and options are better. now the exterior I really like the look of the new mkz comparing it to our LS I think the LS look now is getting dated.

I'd be inclined to disagree. I think the design of this car is getting better with age much like e46/e39 BMWs imo. Really not liking the rounded styling of all these new luxo cars.

I actually am satisfied with our instrument cluster. I'd take it over bmw's cluster any day. I like the Benz cluster but never been fond of the BMW.

And maybe I like our LS cluster because I'm a simple guy. I don't like things to extravagant. I like clean lines, not alot of clutter, and easy to read. And I know some people don't like the green, but it's my favorite color so I'm good with it. I like my simple interior of my car. The only thing I really wish my car had that the new Lincoln's have is the latest generation of the thx sound system.

And I agree with shredicus. I think the exterior styling is aging really well. I can appreciate the new mkz, but don't think I'd own one even if I won it in a raffle. I'd probably sell it and keep the money for LS repairs lol

I really have to agree with you there. I especially dislike the BMW cluster at night.

Seeing I owned an '00, '03 and now my '06 , I guess I could be called obsessed. Not only the same car but the same Cashmere, Lt fr silk/camel, with deflectors and splash guards. requisite exhaust, but the "06 was good stock, and new head unit. best sound was my '03 THX. SO, I havent been put in a position to live without an LS for over 13 years. I'm sure others here pre-date me and with continuous ownership, but I just purchased the ESP and wont have to decide again for 3 years. I see it as my 69 Bullitt Fastback 390 Mustang, but 4 doors. collectors item. 3 more years before true withdrawal begins. I only have 70K mi and have always liked the 2006 Jaguar S type. Maybe a sailboat.

+1

The G8 was one of my favorite GM products. Really glad to see it live on in the SS. Rumored base price of ~28k would be awesome

If they make the SS in the 28K range, I'll most likely be buying one. Never buy the first year of a GM product though, they usually raise the HP and TQ in the second year, and fix 90 percent of the problems they discover on the first year.

The MKZ is a front wheel drive. That automatically removes it from any consideration for a luxury car. Front wheel drive is for cheap economy cars, not luxury cars. No matter how nice the bells and whistles, no matter how well thought out the interior might be, front wheel drive makes it not worth having.
