Hi Guys,
My apologies in advice if this is a million questions but I figure I want to do this right. Your advice is really greatly appreciated in advance.
Well after having so many coils go bad on me I've decided to go ahead and do the full coil on plug and sparkplug switch over, but I could use some pointing in the right direction so I can get her done.
My car is 2005 LS V8 just hitting about 98k miles
First: Which coil on plugs to use for the switch? (i.e. ones that others have had success with)
Accell / MSD (I used to love my MSD blaster's in my old Crown Vic) but I'm open to the best value / reliability
Also where to get the full set of 8? perhaps thinking I should order a few more just in case something needs switching.
Second: Which sparksplugs to use
Currently I have some NGK 7994's in there but I figure after all the abuse they've taken from really bad plugs over time, best to give em the switch.
Should I go with the same sparkplugs or are these just overkill?
http://www.amazon.com/NGK-IFR5E-11-Laser-Iridium-Spark/dp/B000GZAUG8
Any recommendations?
Third: I know someone on here was selling brackets for the modification but not sure where to go about ordering them. Any links? Also, does this require leaving the covers off?
Fourth: I've heard the new plug boots fit water tight for some with the brackets, and others that they don't and they used the old boots, either way I want to keep water out? Any advice on which ones work, and perhaps if a boat load of high temp silicone should be place around them once in to keep water out? Not sure if water on the connector would foul it too though.
Last: Some of the coil on plug connectors have gotten dry and brittle, since I'd have to reverse the wiring order, should I clip all the existing connectors, and solder a full new set reverse wired, and heat shrink them, or is it easy to pull the terminals out and place them in new connectors with clips.
As before, much appreciated.
